Big Sky Preview

Hey guys!

Just wanted to pass the link along in case you are interested... I wrote up a long preview of the Big Sky this year... about 5,000 words, featuring my ranking of the teams, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th teams All Big Sky, and much more!

Would love any feedback or thoughts on the article, which can be found here - Big Sky Preview

Thanks everyone!

I think it's garbage. UNC at 6th after regular season and Big Sky tournament championships last year? You really think the only contributors to that were last year's starters? I saw all kinds of underclassmen make clutch plays throughout the season. Come on guy you've got stop getting your information off of egriz.com. I'm surprised you weren't whining in your article about how UNC didn't really deserve to win the tournament last year.

I do think he is right about one thing. He has 2 or 3 wins seperating 3rd from 7th and I think it's going to be that close. There is not a lot between the teams in the Big Sky. We could have easily lost to NAU last season (won by 1 near the end of the regular season, and nipped them in the semi-finals of the tourny) and bowed out with a bit of a whimper but we didn't.

This is a really hard conference to predict.

Its not hard to see, not many Big Sky teams ever repeat after losing 4 starters including the league MVP.

The Bears lost 65.4 % of thier scoring. I think they will still be competitive, but I dont think they will be conference contenders this year

I don't think that was his point, we all know, UNC isn't going to repeat. That's a given. I just don't think we'll finish that low, it is a possibility though, because of the inexperience. That's why this season is going to interesting. I do think this guy's write up on UNC is correct though, UNC does have the talent to finish high, but it's a matter if all comes together.

Don't get me wrong guys, I know UNC is talented. Guys like Garnica, Lloyd, Unruh, Svihovec are all really talented guys. They are also all really young and (with the exception of Lloyd) only contributed as backups that have not had to carry the load. In the frontcourt, I like Proctor a lot and he will be a solid player, but not sure he is a go to guy. Addo has a bright future but again he is a sophomore that still needs to grow into a big-time role.

It wouldn't be a shock to see them finish 4, but I think around 6 is more likely, because I think teams like Portland State and Eastern Washington will be pretty good. Heading into next year, when UNC will return almost everyone and be a year older, I think they could be a popular pick to win the Big Sky. But I think this year there will be some growing pains.
