Big Sky to use replay for all football games

This should help a little bit for the visitors to Bozeman and Missoula. From AJ Mazzolini of the Missoulian

Moving up to the big time. :thumb:

About time! Montana is notorious for tackling players out-of-bounds (after being already out-of-bounds).

Their "home town" refs would never call it, and that is but one reason they earned the reputation,
"As corrupt as a big sky official."

At last, recourse to verify and even register complaints.

"Yep, Montana tackled him outta bounds. Unsportmanlike. 15 yards."

Maybe the big sky is finally making an honest go at "de-corrupting" its officials. If so, I applaud it, but also reiterate, "About time"!

Yet it is a personal foul penalty for the visitors to make a play on a Montana QB who is tip-toeing down the sidelines. Not that replay will correct that, of course.

Not that the lack of correct calls is anything new in Missoula or in Bozeman. Why do they call Montana "Big Sky Country"?

The Curtis Delgardo incident showed the state of utter corruption at the time. The offending players rightly should have been banned from playing in the NCAA. What would have been great would have been to have taken the tape to the Conference Commissioner and had them review it to rule on. But my gut tells me they were likely corrupt as well.

What is really needed is a new name for this conference to indicate a new era away from the brazen corruption of the past. Whoever came up with "big sky" was thinking with very limited imagination. In fact, anything with "sky" in it sounds too much an airline or an airport these days. it is just kind of dumb as it relates to only a subset of the area it is supposed to serve. We're not a bunch of cowboys out west anymore: We've upgraded our lifestyle. More of us are microbrewers.

Given a good name to take its place, the university presidents could simply vote to take on a more appealing, appropriate and prodigious name, ideally based on the greatness of the role the entire West played in U.S. history.
