Big Sky TV at Weber - Issues

I totally agree that the NAU broadcast was top notch from the picture to the announcers. They were not overly bias at all. The best 2 pictures so far have been #1 NAU and #2 UND. Can someone please tell Weber to bring the cameras out of the roof and get them closer so that even when I watch on my big screen TV they don't look like ants in a race? Can the camera go any higher at the Dee WOW? Also please, please, please if there is anyone that talks to Dutch on a regular basis please tell him that Jeremy's last name in Senglin not Singleton, or Sigleton or anything else. If I were his parents it would annoy me to know end that our own broadcasters can't say my kids name right. Senglin is his name, someone help Dutch out Please.

Hey guys, Sac State upgraded this year to a two-camera HD broadcast with a score bar at the bottom. I think you'll find it to be quite good.

I actually watched the end of the Sac/ISU game last night, and I agree it was very nice and clear. Well done :thumb:

I have gotten some flack about my comments about our broadcast and in game production. I am not whining, I am simply stating the fact of what I observed and heard last night.

I watched the game on America One sports. One ear bud was Mitch and the NAU broadcast team. In the other ear I had Carl's broadcast on 1430 KLO. The NAU broadcast was very nice. I liked the sideline reporting and thought the play by play and color commentary were very fair and unbiased.

Carl did not have one of his best nights last night. He was annoyed and he stated it several times that he did not have a stats monitor in front of him. He was trying to keep his own stats and it was effecting the broadcast. At one point, he brought up that they had Senglin with 10 points and according to his stats Jeremy had 11. He said something like, "I guess we will have to go with their numbers". There was a few weird pauses that may be due to the fact that he was trying to keep stats. There was of course lots of personal opinion mixed into the broadcast.

It must have been difficult to not have a stats feed right there, but his primary responsibility should be play by play. Tell us what is going on. Explain that you don't have a stats feed at the beginning and you might not be able to provide the in game stats. Being alone on the broadcast, he needs to make sure the play by play happens before anything else.

It is key that we have a clean good broadcast. On road games, many fans will just watch the game online and listen to the opposing teams feed because it is better than ours. That means less local fans for sponsors to market to. 15 years ago we were locked into the local broadcast, but now fans have a choice.

Our broadcast is part of the product we offer to sponsors and the community. We are lacking when compared to the rest of the conference. The NAU broadcast will be replayed tonight and I would encourage our decision makers to look at the NAU broadcast. We have far more support and enthusiasm about our program than any other school in the Big Sky. The game is being rebroadcast on Fox Sports Arizona. If our product was more polished, maybe we could get our games on Root or Altitude more regularly. Dutch and Carl have been great supporters of the program. This is not about the people it is about the product that we are putting out there.

Out of curiosity, how many fans listen to the local radio broadcast while watching away games?

I usually listen to KLO while watching the away games. Last night I took the opportunity to listen to the NAU feed and was very impressed with how well they called the game. Hope our guys can take a page from their book and improve the quality of our broadcasts.

The reason why the feed was awesome last night is due to the fact that NAU's games are broadcasted on FOX Sports Southwest (I think, one of the FOX Sports). The feed is piggy backed off of that feed. We cannot compare any of the other schools feeds to NAU's because of that one reason. Plus it is always fun to hear Mitch Strohman. He is by far one of the best announcers in the sky.

In case you did not see the NAU/Weber game, it will be replayed tonight (Friday) on Fox Sports AZ at 7pm Mountain time. That is channel 686 on Direct TV, not sure of channel on other cable/satellite systems).

Go Wildcats!!

I noticed and was/am interested in that, however, I assume you have to have a sports pack subscription to get that channel, no?

Never, unless there is an audio problem. You can count me as one who is less than excited about that component of the WSU product. Carl could certainly be better but it's Dutch that really makes it unbearably for me. You're spot-on about the play-by-play coming first and it would be a bonus if "our guys" could keep "our biases" out of the broadcast.

As I already mentioned, NAU-TV was top-notch from A-to-Z (pun intended) and what truly makes their product shine is what the commentators stated about NAU-TV being mostly run by the students. Weber may not be the same type of school as NAU but I'm sure even students outside of communications/journalism/etc. would not only like similar opportunities, but would benefit greatly from them. GET WSU STUDENTS MORE INVOLVED!

Weber and Ogden City are partnering to make Ogden more of a "college town." Get the students involved with anything and everything to instill a sense of school pride. Use the students talents to create quality products like NAU has done with NAU-TV. When the community begins noticing the quality improvements and energetic and excited kids who take pride in their school, the goal of Ogden becoming a "college town" gets much easier.
