Big Sky TV please kill yourself

Very frustrated with Big Sky TV at the moment. It was great for football season but what the heck is going on now are they asleep at the wheel? The last three games I've tried to watch, Weber, Sac St, and now Eastern Wash have all been impossible...

It's free so you get what you pay for I guess but it's come to the point for me where it's building ill will... I really would follow the team more and be more interested if I could watch games here and maybe even consider paying for the service in the future if there was some value there but as it is now there is no way, no how I'd ever give them a cent.

At this point either get your shit together or pull the plug on this boondogle. And let's be honest here, this isn't rocketscience... If some nice young ladies that aren't so bright can very easily set up a webcast from their homes for me to watch 8) then you'd think the Big Sky Conference could get a basketball game up.

Argh, and I've missed two wins now too.. :x

I've only used BSTV a couple of times, so I can't speak to all of the issues, but, I will try to shed some light on a few things...

The athletic department shelled out quite a bit of money to put a three-camera operation into place, including switching equipment. This was a major upgrade from just using the standard video camera that was used for recording games.

However, much of the problem has been a lack of performance from Broadcast International. I know that on game nights at B-H, there have been a ton of phone calls placed from one person to their support staff, because of problems. I don't know all of the tech issues, but some have been as simple as bad website scripting on the part of BI. Of course, Montana fans crashed the system a number of times during the football season, because BI wasn't prepared for the server demands.

Troy, good info, thank you.

I think that pretty much tells the story, it's just not put together well. It's shame really because it's such a cool idea to build interest to have the games up via webcast here's to hoping they can iron out the kinks. It was great for football, I loved it... But it's really disapointing when you make the time to sit down to watch a game and it's down this much. A glich here or there is to be expected but three games in a row now it's down is not acceptable.

I'm guessing the conference is paying these jokers big bucks to put this on so hopefully some heads are rolling... With this economy I'm sure there are plenty of unemployeed IT people that can do the job if the people there now can't so let's fire them all and start over.

Don't get to unhappy with BigSkyTV...

Before UNC joined the Big Sky we had nothing, just the radio feed. So as bad as it can be its still way better than that.

That and its free!

Last season it was $5 per game, last year you had a reason to be mad...we all did!

This is a joke right? For tonight's game with Montana State they have the audio to the women's game and the video to the men's... how can they be such morons? Seriously, this is embarrassing.

LOL. Sorry, that is just hilarious. But seriously, how was the quality? Maybe they got something right?

video quality was some garbage stuff for me.. I turned to the Weber St. Sacramento State game and that video quality was very good, as well as the Idaho State/ Northern Arizona game (because it was on TV), but our game was terrible, it got to the point where it wasn't really worth watching it anymore.

The video quality was about a bad as it could be without totally failing if that makes any sense. You couldn't tell one player from another, you could get a general idea of which direction the play was moving but couldn't make out the ball at all and if they shot no idea if it went in or not... oh and it was choppy, and freezing. During timeouts when they would move the one camera to the scoreboard you couldn't even read the numbers on it. On a scale of one to ten I'd give it a one just because it was actually up but about as bad as humanly possible.

I was told by the Big Sky that it's up to each school to make BigSky TV better. That is why some are better than others and some have the scoreboard, slow mo, & commericials and some don't or have none of these features.

I don't know anything about Weber's as I've been lucky enough to not need to see any home games online. But I can say EWU's, NAU's, and Montana's are all pretty good.

Well the Weber game a couple weeks ago it was down the entire first half, the last three home UNC games have been mostly down, and the Montana State game was terrible as described above.

I did watch the beginning of the Montana game waiting for the TV broadcast to start and that was fine.

So from my recent experience they are shooting 1 for 6 so about equivalent to our shooting percentage against Montana and Portland State.

I find it hard to believe this is only on the schools but who knows. They didn't seem to have any trouble during football season. I watched the entire Weber game and many others on Big Sky TV and it was great. So somehow between football season and now all the school have forgot how to broadcast?

The picture worked well for me.. I've seen a few Sac State games and they do a very good job with theirs.. As for the game, a very good win.. it's never easy to win games on the road in the conference no matter who you are playing.. That is only our 3rd win away from home. If we beat Northern Arizona on Saturday, we can call this a very successful road trip by going 3-1, should be a good game against a Lumberjack team who soon needs to start getting desperate if they want to make the conference tournament.

Hmmm, weird, it was down all night for me also. I went around to all the other games and about half came up and about half didn't so maybe it's my computer but I'm losing faith like Phineas. :|

The NAU feed for bigskytv.org tends to work for me more often than not. Here's hoping I'm not eating my words later this evening.

The Bears have some wiggle room in regards to a Big Sky tournament seed but the Lumberjacks do not have that luxury anymore.

Looking forward to the game.
