BigSky TV question

OK, I'm not just looking for things to complain about but......
Since I am a distance away and have to watch the Cats via the Internet, is there any way the athletic dept. could pop for a High Definition Camcorder? I can tell from the screen at the end of the games a DVD is being recorded, probably the main purpose is to get game film for the team. Even when you take that image from computer to a big TV via an HDMI connection, it still is so ragged that it's hard to tell one player from another.

I compare it to the videos that are linked at the top of this forum, which were taken by someone in the stands with a hand held camera and posted to YouTube. Clear, well-lit and very easy to discern who is who.

HD camcorders cost about $500 and up, and I know of high schools that use them for game films, and the image is great.

OK, I got to vent....maybe Santa can bring the team a new camcorder for an Early Christmas?

hey that sounds like a great idea! probably somethign to look into! i think the issue though is the fact that it is streaming. The hardware on site may need to be upgraded but the issue might be more of a bandwidth thing or an issue with the provider.

does anyone know? if the issue getting it to stream U of U is probably the only school in the country that could get it to high quality. they have one of the biggest networks in the country and they were also a node on the world's first computer network.

other than big sky ball i dont watch streaming games. are there games out there with much better quality? i do remember olympic basketball in beijing was pretty good quality.

maybe we can ask Jon Casper the Big Sky SID.

Catcat, thanks for the reply. I know not to expect ESPN HD quality, but I think it could be better. Maybe Casper is the guy to ask? (I have watched other conferences in California, various sports online with better definition and quality.)
