Boise State RB considering EWU transfer

Wasn't sure if I should put this in the recruiting thread or not. He would have two years of eligibility left.

Interesting. With Jabari Wilson transferring I could see us needing some additional help at RB.

With Custer (three star) and Pierce (two star) becoming Sophomores, EWU doesn't seem like the place someone from another school would choose to just slide in and try to take over. Wonder is PSU or Azusa would look more appealing in that regard. That is like someone from another school wanting to come into EWU and play quarterback right now...

Also, Jabari is transferring?! How did I not know that? Nuts!

I think he meant to say graduating, not transferring. Wilson was a Senior this year. Right now we have Custer, Pearce, and McPherson on the roster for next year, but we play a lot of RB's throughout the year. I don't think it's a situation where Young would come in and not play if he has talent.

Don't forget Sam McPherson.

if its just playing time he's looking for then Azusa Pacific (NAIA?) or Portland State are probably a safer bet then EWU. if he wants to compete and get a chance to play for a national championship then EWU is a no brainer.

Absolutely. We play all of our RB's. I hope he chooses EWU.

Nice find. The tweet says that he's considering EWU, but I wonder if EWU is considering him? I'm always in favor of giving a transfer a chance so long as it's the right fit.

If we are in the market for transfers you'd think it would for defensive players but I wouldn't mind at all if this guy transferred in.

Hmmm, I always wonder about the kids who come from FBS-- is it playing time, discipline issues, etc. It sounds like he just didn't think he was going to play much with the BSU depth chart. He's not even finishing the season. Here's a little more of an article on him: http://www.idahostatesman.com/sports/college/mountain-west/boise-state-university/bronco-beat-blog/article121773968.html

I am ecstatic with the young RB's we currently have. They have a bright future and all had pretty good game time experience this season. I wonder if we will run the ball more, and throw less?

Kids all transfer for different reasons. Usually it is an issue of playing time but not always. I've been very impressed with the transfers EWU has brought in under Baldwin. He's not going to bring in a player who is a problem child or causes problem with team chemistry. I wonder if Coach Hill and Coach Adams will influence his decision at all.

Definitely interesting, but I really like what Custer and Pierce offer us. I think we should have a very nice 1-2 punch next season.

I agree. I think their contrasting styles will make them the two feature backs for the team, hopefully similar to what Ruiz and Webb had been for YSU. But McPherson is definitely talented and has done good things as well, and will be in the mix. And I think having a stable of four capable backs is definitely important. Most years, it seems one or two backs our out due to injury just about every game. I think if this kid comes in, and competes to play, he will see playing time.

Interesting to look at his recruiting timeline. Held offers from Davis and NAU. Graduated with a 3.8 GPA.

I agree, Beau has always run a solid program with incredible team chemistry. That's one of the many wonderful things about him. I, too am curious about the influence of Adams and Hill.

I'll trust the coaches on this one, but I agree with your point. If a kid doesn't make it at Boise State, is he good enough to play at Eastern? Maybe yes, maybe no. The days of a roster kid on a good FBS school that wasn't cutting it coming to the FCS and being an impact player have been gone for a while.

I know the coaches are pretty high on Pierce and Custer. Neither guy looked great this season, but they're freshman, so just seeing regular action as a freshman shows what they can do.

Basically taking this kid means you pass on an outgoing HS player. So if this kid gets on here, it means the coaches feel better about his ability than whoever they are looking at recruiting for the position.
