• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Boyle adds another ...

Interesting because that means they have signed four for next year but only three are known to have left, the two seniors and Jefferson Mason... so either one of the four is walking on or someone else has left. :?

I can't comment on much here, but I can clear some things up.

A) Dunsmoor was not on scholarship, and neither is Lee Hall.
B) As of now, we've added four (Osborne, Addo, Unruh, Arnold).
C) Boyle can't comment until April 15.

I assure you guys -- the staff is VERY excited for next season.

If you haven't seen this yet, take a look. Connor and Emmanuel have jumped up in recruiting grades (Connor's No. 2 in the state) and at this point, both are higher than Proctor was last season. (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/prospects?&state=CO&status=null&toggle=null&pos=null&season=2009)

Proctor was 68, FYI.

Pena yeah, I have opinions on that, surprise surprise.

He wasn't a true point at all, a scorer who was short so he handled the ball. Seemed to have decent handles but couldn't pass his way out of a wet paper bag. I never really saw him create shots or space for anyone, seemed to just make the easy or obvious pass and that's what you'd expect from a score first guy.

Beyond that I found his offense disapointing... but he did seem super athletic, it seemed like the potential was there but something didn't click. He was a JC guy and the jump to DI is big but he didn't seem much better at the end of the season. I think he'd dominate at the DII level but just wasn't creative enough with the ball or dominate enough as a scorer at this level to be an impact player.

It seems odd that the Trib has announced the signings before uncbears.com....

Of course no information on who left the program.

A little birdie told me that Pena left the program. Sad to see him go.

Really? I remember Boyle saying that Pena would be one of the main guys next year. Thats to bad if its true.

In the interest of increased local media exposure, an agreement was met last summer between myself and Tribune officials for the Tribune to report on various athletic department news items prior to their appearance on uncbears.com.

Many non-breaking stories (signings, schedule releases, etc.) this fall and winter have first appeared in the Tribune. And this figures to continue happening. With such a limited media presence in our area, this figures to give you all, fans of Northern Colorado athletics, two sources of information on Bears news, rather than one.

Look for a uncbears.com story on the 2009 men's basketball class either today or tomorrow.

Scott

And that's great and completely what we're hoping for. We obviously want uncbears.com to be a definite source for fans to find information, but at the same time, we want our news items to get as big of play as possible. The agreement with the Tribune was basically reached because officials there were reluctant to relinquish space in their sports section to news that was released, at times, an entire day before.

It's not an ideal situation, but it is what it is. And like I said, it's only been on rare instances.

Sweet, the link to the KSPR (I think) site with the signing footage is great.

Yeah, I thought people might enjoy that.

Tate's from the same area as Tyler Hansbrough, and I think the same quirks that make him such a "darling" will follow Tate, as well. He's a really good kid and, from all accounts, a heck of a player. A gym rat.

I love how the whole fam is decked out in Bears gear.

It is interesting to compare this class to the others in the Big Sky:

That link is pretty cool and proof for the naysayers on how the D I move really does lift the profile of your school, instead of being a Colorado thing UNC can develop a regional profile throughout the west and the midwest.
