Bracket Buster(Cal Poly Thread)

We play at Cal State Northridge. We lost in Eugene 65-90 when we played them this year.

This could be a bad weekend.

While I agree that it doesn't matter as far as our record goes, this game does matter. We need to be building confidence going into the end of the season, and hopefully the conference tournament. That is why Oregon is doing so well this year, they played a soft non-conference schedule and now have a ton of confidence.

If we get whipped by CSN, then that will lower our teams already fragile confidence, and could spell disaster come the last few weeks of the season.

I understand what you're saying, but how is a loss to CS-Northridge any different than a loss to CS-Sacramento with regards to their confidence?

No different. A close loss is better than a blowout, however. Either way, I don't think we should be playing this game, especially in the middle of conference play. If we were going to be on TV, it might be worth the publicity. Since we aren't, and we might get all of 15 seconds of airtime on Sportscenter, this game is a bad idea.

I think we can play with CSN on the second time around. That first game of the year was about the worst I've seen us play this year.

With regards to us even playing in the game. I'm not sure that I really like seeing us play this game either. We could be in a position of fighting for hosting the BSC tourney, or fighting to even be in the tourney with the way the BSC is this year. Concentration on conference play will be key.

As far as the bracket buster deal goes... How do teams get into this? Does ESPN ask the schools, or is it the other way around?

Against common opponents:

PSU 3-3

Cal Poly 5-0

Better game, well, eh? Ah, sure.

Nice road trip if you can swing it.

Plus Poly gets kudos for better color comprehension.

Just to clarify, PSU is 4-3 against common opponents and Cal Poly is 5-1. PSU beat San Jose State and Cal Poly amazingly lost to them, one of SJS' two wins.

For all of the glory that SJSU had on the football field this past season, they are a polar opposite on the hardwood.
