Dozy,
I see Dylan quite often, and when we talk he just smiles with joy that the season is approximately 23 days away. Will see him this am. Chris and myself are going out to greet the Players. I am just as pumped as anyone else, looked at the 2010 Championship Game a few weeks ago, and is ready for some Butt Kicking :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :D :D :D :D :D . I am sure you have seen the "MUSCLES" he continue to put on. I remembered almost 4 years ago, the kind of Skinny young man coming in as a Recruit, and the Players had to cut his hair, put him in the shower for being cocky    . Still the same "Bad Ass Player", doesn't back down from anyone. 8-) 8-) 8-) :x :x :x :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Excuse that three letter word, nothing negative. See you on the Aug. 23rd, if not before. Tell the West side Crew, will see them also. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
Good Morning Vic;
I can't make it to practice today, (in Wenatchee) so looking forward to your report. Have fun!

Look out for Jake Gall LB.

I always think it's great when players families post on the board. OK, I am now officially a member of the Jake Gall fan club, and will cheer extra enthusiastically! Hoping your entire family has a great season!

krg281,
Jake is a hell of a Player, I have been watching him now going on his 2nd year. His sister does the Roster for the team. I wished you could have seen this team this morning. Jake will tell you how talented this team can be again this year. If I was with a different University, I would be scared like hell to play EWU. Watched both New QB, Hennessey, Gubrud, they are both going to great addition with the others, they looked good throwing the ball. Let me side how tired I will be in the am, that will determine if I should go out or not again tomorrow. ;) ;) Take care. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I need to put my unbiased vote in for Todd Raynes. In the last game against Townsen, he had 11 tackles, and finished with 32 tackles in the last 5 games of the season that he played. During the off season, he put on another 10 pounds and didn't lose any of his 4.4 speed. This will serve him well when he is playing down in the box during the nickel packages, which I think will be a good set in order to get Tonani, McDonald and Raynes on the field at the same time. Praying for the boys to stay healthy this year and reach their potential for a trip to Frisco in January.

Go Eags.

The entire two deep roster. This team has talent all over the field and outstanding, athletic, young depth. Truly a "next up" situation. With this tough schedule and high expectations, will need all hands on deck for each game and EWU is positioned to do just that. If I had to make a list of standout's I would look to the O-Line. EWU has a deep experienced group at O-Line and should help the offense be spectacular again as teams try to take away Kupp and Hill or Forte and Brown this season. Pick your poison.

I agree with all that the offense will be wash-rinse-repeat... Although (gasp), that could get mauled if Vernon has any health issues. That's why I think Blair Bomber will step right into the slot and produce big numbers. The only game he played last year before red shirting was a productive effort in Corvallis (including whipping out the European silencer ala Luca Toni).

However, our success or failure will likely be on the other side of the ball...

In watching the spring scrimmages, I know they only tell you so much, but I thought Jordan West looked like a very capable back up. I think one of the cliches stands true in regards to EWU. Success breeds success. As our team continues to perform well, and garner unprecedented attention, our recruiting will continue to be solid. That strong recruiting is producing better depth at each position. I know there are multiple parts to maintaining a winning team year after year, but I think that's one of the things that will perpetuate EWU's success for several years to come.

Now, if we could just ink Beau Baldwin to a good 20 year contract! :D

To All,
Didn't make it out this morning, after I woke up, these old knees started talking to me ;) , so I went back to bed and rest for another 3 hours. Will take a drive out since today is "Mothers DAY". BTW Mothers is the end of every month, once you get your pay check, we must pay this mother, that mother, got the joke ? That is mothers day      . Must deposit my check, so I could pay those Mothers> ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) . Hope I can see some of our Players once I get out there. Take care. Vic Wallace

LDopaPDX,
Let us hope Vernon doesn't get hurt, but should he, Jordan West, Conner Richardson, could take over the team, both looked great in practice. We now have Reilly Hennessey, Ryan Gubrud, from Oregon. I think they both may Redshirt, not sure. Let us hope for the best. Vic Wallace

To All,
Made a late trip out to EWU, met Stu Stiles, and Zack Eagle, they seems like very nice young men. I was talking to 3 of our Female Volley Team Members, they were checking them out ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) . Now we know they are normal young men. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    They both are enjoy being here at Eastern, and can't wait for the season to get started. Vic Wallace

dozy,
Saw Dylan today, he said he was instructed to say hello if he saw us. Had to let him know he couldn't check out the Volley Team Members since he has a girlfriend ;) ;) ;), but I must say they were checking him out. Will attempt to make the practice in the am. Will now relax, and prop up these shaky knees. Take care. Vic Wallace

i could see DJ Martin having an impact on special teams, but I wonder how much productivity theres going to be out of the backfield. it would seem as if most of the carries will go to Forte, Brown, Wilson in that order. They have him listed as a receiver right now so maybe that's where they think theres the best chance of getting him chances to touch the ball his first year. next year I could see him having a huge impact alongside Wilson and Moore but I wonder about it this season.

Agree with everything you said. My guess is they want to get Martin on the field this year, but Forte is primed for a monster season in the backfield, so Martin may see time at WR and backup RB. I'd expect he'd move to RB next year after Forte graduates unless he is something special at WR.

DJ Martin is no longer on the team. Haven't seen a reason why but usually its grades.

horrible news, good luck to him.

My thoughts exactly Vic. Not to mention a top O-Line and RB's that averaged over 6 yds per carry last season to help out a less experienced QB should the necessity arise. Would like to understand better where the TE's fit too. Saw that Baumann was listed as a TE (thought he was a great LB) and Belk certainly has all the measurables to be a factor in 3rd down and goal line situations. More on TE's would be nice.

To All,
Outstanding Threads of the 1st day of practice. I am going out this am, and check out the Recruits. #1 ranking to start the season, now every team sees the "Bulls Eye" on our back. We will handle it just like every other year, one game at a time. Nice to see all the accolades our team and Players are getting. Thanks to the Outstanding Coaches,   and Trainers involved with our team    . These Recruits looked very good in the 1st practice, and is not afraid to hit if necessary. Can't wait to see todays practice and how they are doing health wise. I know we will have some soreness, ;) ;) ;) etc, it is the 1st week. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I've got my money behind Jabari Wilson. From what I have seen, he was an impressive running back as a freshman. I really think his shoulder injury kept him out of the spotlight.

I just found out last night that Ronnie H will not be participating in todays Scrimmage due to his foot. (Get better FAST Ronnie)
So I am looking for some help..
My kid Jake (43) will be taking snaps with the 1's today and I am stuck working at the fire station today. :ohno:
So I am looking for honest break down, good and bad, on how he does today.
The wife is there today but im sure her view will be a little one sided, being his #1 fan. :thumb:

Thanks in advance
Kelly

loloman,
Todd is walking a lot better, he is off the crutches, I am sure he called you and let you know how he is doing. He have really put muscles on himself. Hope he doesn't attempt to push it and re-injure himself. We have some great talks when we get together, he has great mind of what he wants to do after his graduation. Will be at the scrimmage, hope I can make it to the bleachers, these knees are playing games with me. ;) ;). Vic Wallace
