Bring Back MAC!

I wasn't always a fan of everything coach Mac brought to the table, but at least he had some loyalty and true commitment. I hope that Bovee didn't burn that bridge.

Yep, bring back MAC for a year or two until you get a permanent replacement. I think Mac will come back.
If not, is there an assistant ready to step up? Eck?

McBride told The Salt Lake Tribune Monday afternoon that he is "dumbfounded" by the news.

"The timing is real bad for Weber," McBride added. "The kids are just getting ready for summer and learning a new system.

"It’s understandable he wants to prove himself at Arkansas," he said of Smith’s departure. "Still, it’s hard to take. I feel bad for Weber. It’s my school."

Asked about returning to Weber to replace Smith on at least an emergency basis, McBride was non-commital.

"I don’t know what the situation is," McBride said. "Obviously I loved it there. We’ll see what they want to do."

Bring back MAC... maybe the players have learned to not take the old coach for granted. He left, or was pushed out the door, because of their behavior.

Wow...I feel like I just got F'ed by a train. Well, when the Big Sky asks why we are walking bow legged, we have a great excuse. We done got bent over!! Hey Pflu is available. If anything he knows what it feels like. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Kidding!!

I agree 1,0000%

Bring Mac Back! He has dignity and class and most of all really cares about the futures of these men and Weber State. Good riddance John L. !!!

BECAUSE HE CARES ABOUT THESE YOUNG MEN. And you're right, he WAS NOT fired, but left on his own...and there is even more to that story, but it was Bovee's decision........

BRING BACK MAC

I wouldn't be disappointed to see Mac back... But I'd rather see the team go in a different direction... With no offense to Mac. I'd just rather have a rising coach instead of a retiring coach... Aaron Roderick, SUU's Lamb, or go interim with Hammer for a year to see how it goes. :twocents:

I like SUU's Lamb, but that puts Bovee/Weber in a moral quandry doesn't it? Would we want a head coach that is willing to abandon his program just like John L. did? It almost forces Mr. Bovee to bring Mac back or stay in house.

Why would Lamb leave SUU for Weber? It Is a lateral move at best. Pay, facilities, budget, conference are all a wash. And oh yea we won last year! The only advantage might be reqruiting, but it is not like SUU has been loosing its reqruits to Weber the last few years. Living in Cedar is a much more attractive option than Ogden. He already told Weber he wasnt interested when Mac left, why in the world would he leave now for the mess you guys have up there. Sorry Cats but long gone are the days when Weber was a better option than SUU. See ya Oct 20th

According to Tom Kirkland, who spoke with Bovee, Weber will almost certainly promote an existing assistant to head coach. And Coach Mac will not be coming back.

I think most reasonable people would see Weber as a step up from SUU, if even a small step. Higher pay, better facilities, much larger market and fan base, much more stability (50 years in the same conference), and so on. But I don't see Lamb as someone Weber would be banging down the door for anyways. It's not like Lamb has been tremendously successful (he has a losing record at SUU, 21-23).

Who would want to love in cedar

I think the best move is to promote an assistant to interim for this year and then conduct your search in a less hurried manor. People need to keep their heads in a situation like this. A rushed decision could set you back more than what just happened. There is no reason to get froggy. We have good players, good coaches, and a good administration. I have confidence that they will all do their jobs well, and WSU will come out of this just fine. Stuff happens. Deal with it! :thumb: :coffee:
