Bring Back Troy

Somebody other than me mentioned Osterhout and McClure in conjunction with the open Sac State job? You guys have heard that from me a zillion times already, so I wasn't going to bug all y'all with it again, but I'm shocked that I'm not the only one. Taylor, on the other hand, wouldn't surprise me at all.

There was a new one that came up this week that I thought a bit intriguing, but I've already forgotten his name. D'oh!

The Rat posted a Sac Bee article earlier in this thread speculating head coach prospects. The article included the names you shared so that may be what you’re thinking of.

Agree.. in my opinion TT is our #1 goal. I’d seriously consider Kris R as next HC.
The alumni of Hornets I respect Angus & Osterhout I’d love them to come back as a coordinator and if they learn the success of TT / KR systems they would become the legacy HC obvious choices. I’m not convinced the JC HC is a great D1HC? Recruiting complexity of managing larger program etc. My 2 cents.
I emailed Wood & Orr requesting a return of HC Troy Taylor. Also I suggested if we can’t for some reason get TT that KR get a serious consideration as next HC.
I really want done good news. This has been a rough past few weeks. Missing playoffs, HC bails, losing great recruits in 26’, ugh

Love what Richardson does for the oline and the hammerheads, his loyalty and presence, not sure he would be the best choice for HC however. This is like AT #2 all over again.
If you think that AT and Coach Richardson are the same, you need to either spend some time with them or pay better attention. Richardson is far more than a position coach and is highly regarded by the High School coaches in the region.

Sure isn't. But relationships with the local High School coaches shouldn't be taken lightly.
For the most part Richardson has undesirable relationships with the Sacramento area high school coaches. When he was at Folsom running up scores and being obnoxious and dismissive with other HS coaches in the area he could not have known he was going to end up coaching at SAC but I can assure you they have not forgotten. I'm sure there are HS coaches out there who don't have a problem with him but I know many local coaches who have not forgiven him. I can promise you that he doesn't have the respect that some of you think he has.

Business is Business… yes some HS HC have hurt feelings I’m sure. The ability to recruit is an important SKILL & Charisma matters.
Ability to lead and manage as a D1 CFB HC is most important, the players will still follow and with NIL we recruit in a much larger pool these days.

I am disappointed that we didn’t get Caden Pinnick, that kid is dynamic as a freshman,

The Dynamic duo of Troy Taylor & Kris R. Would be my dream leadership right now. If I were Wood / Orr I’d sign them both on 5 Yr deals. These guys will build our next generation of HC’s within the ranks.

In future I’d hope we have great depth to promote from within. That’s us developing players and coaching staff.

More sustainable

Wasn’t the original Taylor era a 7 year deal that lasted 3? Honestly I would take that. Wood said he wants next coach to stay for at least 3 years. I’d imagine there would be serious buyout language encouraging that.

Id like to keep recruiting Florida, Deep South and mid-Atlantic. BM et al went everywhere, lets not fall back to recruiting a 50 mile radius around 916. There are great local players, but the way BM showed no boundaries and pushed the standard norm was great.

I dont think KRich will bring a dynamic offense with him. If he is HC, I think we slump back into Freques ball type of predictable boredom. Not that BM had any surprise in his O lol.
