He was highly recommended by Ron Gould.

What are you implying?
It's a joke that questions Ron Gould's judgment and motives. Ron Gould is probably the worst head football coach that school across the causeway ever had with a 12-33 record between 2013 to 2016. Yet, his teams still managed to beat the Hornets three times. Davis fans were happy to see him go.

In all seriousness, Gould was a classy guy, but didn't have IT. I hope Zo does.

Coveted? lol.

BHF, to put it succinctly, I'm an alum so I'll always have a vested interest in the well being of Sac State. And yes, it's put up or shut up time for Hornet fans that want to see Troy back as HC. If encouraging folks to send in an email in support of hiring Troy draws your ire then so be it.

Glad to hear you are an alum that still has a vested interest. IMO it just doesn’t show at times when you futility attempt to defend the indefensible.

As for your email idea — it in no way draws my ire. Live and let live. I just recognize it as a complete waste of time and explained why. I’ll further point out that I never once said a negative thing about the idea, though, and wouldn’t have done so at all until you positioned it as some kind of requisite for being critical of the university and it’s inept President.

Nothing personal toward you, of course. Even though we disagree quite a bit, your contributions and participation on this forum are among the reasons I’ve been a member here as long as I have. Through many trying years as a fan of Sac State programs, no less.

Regardless of our differences of opinion, one thing we all have in common is the longing to finally see this universities athletics programs rise and succeed, with state of the art facilities being built along the way.

I read the bio for this Zo Asst coach guy. He is a walking Black Lives Matter mouthpiece. Wood is trying to create CSU-HBCU here in Sac, so I think the TT rehire will not happen. Using the bogus Stanford crap will be the hill he dies on.

What you outline here is precisely what I’ve been implying w/o expressly stating.

Unless someone hits the guy over the head with a frying pan or finds some other means to convince him otherwise — Wood is going to hire a minority candidate come hell or high water.

There’s nothing wrong with hiring a qualified minority candidate, of course, but there is something wrong with only considering minority candidates and making that a priority of any potential hire.

As @Bodega Joe has said — this decision is a no-brainer. While there are other qualified candidates available, Taylor is clearly the most qualified (and experienced) of those candidates based upon the 4 year and 3 season track record with this program already.

But, as @SDHornet has implied, his candidacy doesn’t check all the right boxes for this university’s president and his stated objectives. Taylor does check all the right boxes for AD Mark Orr, however, which is why the inept president will most likely pull rank.

I don't think being the assistant head coach/running back coach would merit holding off an announcement so late.

It doesn’t.

Brian Hartline has been a hot commodity coaching prospect for some time. He was promoted to OC at Ohio State this season and will still be coaching the Buckeyes throughout their postseason run which doesn’t even begin for another couple weeks.

He formally accepted the head coaching job at South Florida 9 days ago on the morning of the start of the early signing period.
