As the conference ("for real") regular basketball season begins, here are some #s for those interested:

Ratings>> RPI-ESPN NCAAM --- Ken Pomeroy Advanced Analysis

Ea. Wash. 91 --- No. Dakota 153
Portland St. 118 --- Weber St. 163
Montana 160 --- Montana 169
Weber St. 231 --- Idaho 215
Idaho 237 --- Portland St. 227
No. Colo. 245 --- Montana St. 247
No. Dakota 268 --- Ea. Wash. 257
Montana St. 306 --- No. Colo. 268
Idaho St. 311 --- Idaho St. 293
Sac. St. 315 --- Sac. St. 320
No. Ariz. 337 --- No. Ariz. 333
So. Utah 346 --- So. Utah 366

Obviously, Pomeroy agrees in placement only on Montana (3rd) & the lower 4 teams. Biggest discrepancy between the two ratings are on Eastern Washington, North Dakota, & Portland St.

Snapshot as of Dec 28, so let the games begin !!!

Sheesh. Jeremy is on fire right now. 5-of-5 from downtown and it's not even halftime yet. Passed Scotty-B to be our all-time 3-point leader, too.

Well, Senglin didn't go for the record, but I'll take a double-digit road win to open Big Sky play any day of the week. Well done, Wildcats!

Good start for Wildcats! Senglin's shooting indeed impressive, hope it holds in Missoula, Grizz won by 12 over Bengals. Most impressive score for the night? Perhaps Portland State's 37 point slam dunk of No. Dakota. Vikings may have been most impressive in OOC & again to begin conference play!? :coffee:

Good start to the BSC season, 17 three pointers…wow, hopefully the hot shooting continues tomorrow as we take on our rival from Missoula, a team we haven't beat in Missoula since 2009.

I really like the confidence that this team is playing with right now. We are on a four game win streak and are shooting really well.

Now lets take it to the Griz.

GO WILDCATS

I think "Red Face" and Vikings have been the most impressive team so far. I did not expect to see that score.

Sac might be worse than we thought only scoring 51 at home against Northern Colorado. I thought that UNC might be the team to come out unmotivated since they have no chance of a post season.

That was a good win by us last night. When Senglin is on we are hard to beat. Let's go get the very elusive, almost impossible Montana sweep. I think we will have a chance if we can make Braxton effective inside and keep knocking down shots.

Wildcat-Grizz game is at 2pm New Year's Eve, per SE. After breaking the losing streak in Logan this year, no better time for this hot-right-now Wildcat team to break the streak in Missoula!!

Regarding BSC teams, maybe 'de Bears only incentive this season is to play spoiler. Wildcats fortunate to only play Vikings once this season? Thing is, it's at Portland. Wish the BSC would go to a full 22 game format!! :twocents:

I fully agree with the 22 game format. I don't understand the 18 game format. Could someone explain why this is the way it is.

So we have enough space to schedule 3 NAIA games a year. In all seriousness, there are a few programs that need to play 4 or 5 money away games just to balance the budget. After this season and how the conference has performed, I think I agree with you.

Portland St. loses at home to No. Colorado by 14! Maybe not so impressive are they (Vikings) after all. Or just maybe 'de Bears are going to have a fun season after all playing the spoiler role without any incentive for post season. :coffee:

There were a few surprises in the first week of BSC play. Idaho losing at home, SUU winning at NAU, Sac losing two at home. All of those things would not have been predicted.

One thing I have noticed is that we are experiencing more consistent officiating. Mistakes are still made, and always will be, but game in and game out, on the road or at home, we are getting the same product. That is a truly positive development.

Glad to see you're back, Olds. :)

I agree...but tell the Griz that officiating has been more balanced. Even in a foul fest, both teams are getting "somewhat" equally rewarded.

After looking like one of the worst teams in the country in OOC play (0-11 vs D1), SUU opens up conference play with two road wins over NAU and UNC (who had just opened up with two double digit road wins themselves). Onwuasor scores 37 and 32 in the two wins. Welcome to the strange world of Big Sky Basketball.

I watched a lot BB games last night. The officiating was consistent within games and between games. Yes, they are calling more fouls, but they are certainly consistent about it. I think there will be less fouls called as the season goes on. Teams will adjust and so will the officials. I'm liking what I am seeing so far. The coaches must be liking it too. I have not seen a T called on a coach, so far. :thumb: :thumb:
