I think the Wildcats should come away with a win…but nothing is ever certain with this defense or turnover tendencies. I would like to see fundamentally sound defense (no blown coverages or 40+ runs). I’ll be a bit more optimistic and predict 38-24 Wildcats. I agree with Tal, I think the Big Sky may have dropped off a bit to where 5-6 wins might be possible.

How do you help the defensive weaknesses? Blitz more or mix coverage schemes…or both? The DBs look lost with the zone look in my opinion. They did get a couple of picks…but were mostly due to inaccurate throw by QB erroring the wrong way. The rushing defense was bad as well. The secondary speed is clearly an issue. Can they stack the box more…or will that burn them on deep balls? Not a lot of options. I personally think they will need to mix up looks to keep other team guessing vs systematically being carved up by offenses. The offense may need to possess the ball more…but concentrating on taking up time may prevent scoring plays from happening. I think it’s going to be an outscore philosophy and hope the other team makes key mistakes.

Admit the "faster starts" talk was walked, at least somewhat vs. McNeese, trouble was they sort of ran out of energy in the second half. Understandable what with the humidity & heat, etc. It has to help attitude-wise that they WON a close game for a change, no matter if ugly & very lucky. Glad for that. Baby steps to improvement! May it last & become giant leaps (high on optimism, ha ha).

Dang! WR Kjar has suffered a likely season ending injury. Ouch!

WSU 31 - Butler 17

PS: For those going to or watching, the game has a 7pm start.

My brother told me about the Weber State app, so I downloaded it and found out that tickets are $10 for a “Light the W” special and that the team will wear all purple. Yay!!! At least one game with the school colors!

Not happening for HC, he's sticking with usual black I bet. ◼️ ☺️

This team is bad and very undisciplined. We should be killing this team and we are only up 6 at this point pathetic. I am sorry but this team is in need of a total coaching overhaul. Gilkey is just a bad QB as well no consistency whatsoever.

Lol Mickey didn’t even realize he should go for 2 to get the lead to 14 instead of 13. Had to burn a timeout to get the offense back on the field.

If you’re wondering why the team is undisciplined, it’s because the coaching staff is undisciplined.

All due respect to Butler, but literally the only they play they could run is QB power and we still gave up 24 points.

Also, our QB has 9 picks. 9!

It is so hard to watch undisciplined football. You are taught as a kid in every sport to think ahead and know what you are going to do when the ball gets to you. Our coach doesn’t even know if he is going for two. On a critical third down he called a timeout and dialed up a QB keeper (which about 99% could guess when he spread the receivers out).

Conversely, look at what Ed Lamb is doing at Northern Colorado. He has a team two plays from 4-0 with near wins at South Dakota and Colorado State because they play disciplined. Weber State missed out on hiring him…wish Hill would have announced his departure to BYU a month earlier.

I have tough time seeing Big Sky wins turning the ball over 3-4 times a game and committing over 60 yards of penalties a game. A team that should have had zero chance at a win was down 6 with multiple chances to win due to the lack of discipline and poor play calling.
