bye week

OK, if we don't absolutely OWN the Cats next Saturday something's wrong. This MSU UCA game is awful. Montana State is running a zone read offense that will get their QB killed if our defense comes to play, and Vernon should be able to throw 8 TDs. In my mind, next week will define the season.

Fortunately, one team Eastern's D'd up pretty well the last couple of years is MSU.

All of sudden that SHSU win doesn't look that great. They got blasted by LSU last weekend, too.

The Big Sky looks kind of down this year, but the Southland is absolutely turrible.

Watching USD @ Montana right now. Neither team looks very good. Montana will get trucked at NDSU next weekend. I don't see how Montana fans can try to compare Johnson with Adams. There is no comparison.

If you had listened, you would have heard the announcer say JJ is the benchmark of efficiency on account of how few int's he throws (5 last year). Didn't adams throw darn near that many in one game? Don't worry, we're as happy with our qb as you are yours. I'm glad we have an offense that can grind and eat up clock to go along with a fairly efficient defense.

Hmmm. I thought the mighty Griz posters were too good to even read our blog let alone post crap about their "can't throw the ball down field" QB on it! They all usually claim that they don't even know we have a site, but post something about their team that they take exception to and they can't post a rebuttal fast enough.

Johnson isn't even the benchmark for efficiency. Montana's defense is pretty darn good. I don't think the offense is anything spectacular. It's like the opposite of EWU.

And when did VA throw 5 TD's in one game last season? So far in 2014, he has 16 passing TD's to only one INT and a career mark of 91 TD's to 24 INT's. When you consider how much we throw the ball, that is ridiculously good.

The Griz are not a good team this year, not at all. NDSU and EWU will absolutely roll them. What a waste of Johnson's career there...

JJ did contribute to that wasteful effort by becoming embroiled in a rape/sexual assault trial that cost him a year - otherwise his career arc would have peaked with some of their better teams.

If anyone is curious, Sam Houston is getting absolutely throttled by a division II team. 44-7

Well this is kind of funny now.

Wait, I thought they had the greatest D in the history of their program this year?

A little frightening that Sam Houston State only managed 97 total yards at home against a DII team into the fourth quarter until Puebla pulled their starters. The Bearkats were shutout the previous week. That same team absolutely gashed our D.

I hope the D is looking at these events and realizing they need to kick it up about 5 notches. Montana State looked good on offense, so it would be a pleasant surprise to see them rise up and hold them to under 3 scores.

At least he owned it. Here's the thing about SHSU. They have talent. I think the problem is team chemistry and coaching. I think given a couple years Keeler will have them relevant in the Southland.

A lot of clucking on this board about the competition. Coach Baldwin's focus on the Eags MENTAL preparation this season is spot on. Can bad things happen to good teams? Absolutely. They did against UW and there were no signs of quit in this team. Is there a better team than UW we have yet to face? Who left on our schedule is MENTALLY tougher then EWU? (rhetorical)

Would be more interested in the things MSU does that we can't stop and how that might lead to a loss. How do we match up? Please no statements like if we turn the ball over 4 times... those belong on the prediction thread.

Man, the bye week was tough on everyone :-)
