Byron Fulton resurgence?

Among all the recent chatter regarding Gelaun Wheelwright's sudden departure, I'd like to take a step back and discuss something I've been curious about ever since the season ended in April (Man, it feels good to say it ended in April). Byron Fulton ...

We all know his role was severely diminished, as his skill-set didn't really fit into last season's structure, but what about this season? I'd love to see him back to his sophomore year form in his final season at WSU. It really seemed like he was starting to turn a corner just before he got hurt and had to have his knee scoped. He was contributing when needed, his shot-selection improved and he seemed to always come up with the momentum-changing trey when we needed it.

With Mook gone and Hill slated to see bigtime minutes this season, where does Fulton fit in to our new squad?
Thoughts?

Byron "The Sultan" Fulton, I would like to see him get more minutes this year, I think the best thing he could do for himself is work on his agility, get some speed and quickness underneath like Mook had and he could be a serious threat down low.

Fulton is primarily a 4. However, with James out for a while, we may see him play a little 5. There is no doubt that he will get more PT this year, if he can stay injury free. He is the third choice at both positions, so game situation will dictate how and when he plays. Injuries, foul trouble, matchups, all kind of things factor into it. He is a great option to have on the bench. Problem is that Bolomboy and Fuller's skill sets are better than his. I think that everyone is pulling for him to get more PT. I hope it happens. :coffee:

So, 3 years ago Fulton was Freshman of the year in the Big Sky. What's happened since then? Was it a really weak freshman class across the conference? Has he not worked to become better? Has the coaching staff failed to develop him properly? Or has the level of talent at Weber just increased enough to where he is not even 2nd on the depth chart? I sure hope it is the last one.

Fulton has done everything asked of him. He has progressed as expected. It's really just a matter of the talent level getting better over the last several years. Every year, we seem to be bringing in a higher level of talent. This year is certainly not an exception to that. :thumb: :thumb:

I think there's a little bit of everything regarding what you just said. That, plus injury setbacks. And yes, the year he was Freshman of the Year was one of the weakest freshman classes in recent Big Sky history. Funny, because last year's was one of the strongest. Any other season, Bolomboy wins that award hands-down.
