Provo » Brigham Young football coach Bronco Mendenhall announced Monday night that inside linebacker Matt Ah You is transferring from BYU.
Ah You has one season of eligibility remaining. A BYU news release did not specify to which school Ah You is transferring, but it is believed to be Weber State.
The senior could not be reached for comment Monday.
Ah You can transfer to a NCAA Football Championship Subdivision school, such as Weber State, without having to sit out a year.
"Matt has made a decision to transfer to finish his final season of eligibility, and I have granted him a release," Mendenhall said. "I appreciate his contributions to our program and wish him the best as he pursues his personal goals."
Ah You graduated from Lone Peak High in northern Utah County and was a three-year letter winner at BYU. He played in 26 games in the 2003, 2004 and 2008 seasons.
In 2008, he played in all 13 games and started twice.
The 5-foot-11, 220-pound linebacker totaled 68 tackles, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery in three seasons with the Cougars.
