we haven't lost at home to byu since 2014. this sounds great, but they almost never come to ogden anymore and to think they are about to join the medium 12, this could be the last ever or the sort of 2-for-1's will continue. we beat them 1113-103 in 2018 their last visit. both teams return 1 player from that game, baxtor of byu is injured still as far as i know and weber's kozak.

uvu beat byu
byu beat usu pretty good
usu beat weber pretty good
suu beat uvu

usu and wazzu shot lights out against weber - usu 52% & 50% from 3; wazzu 58% & 59% from 3.

byu shoots 35% (187th in DI) from 3 (75-224). they were sub 300 before the uvu game

L @ uvu: 7-27
W @ missouri st: 6-23
W usu: 10-26
L @ creighton: 12-23

they are a dangerous 3pt team and will make many in ogden.

I have watched the BYU Soakers play a few times this year and they are very good, but I think Weber matches up fairly well with them. If they were full strength, I would be more worried, but since their 2 main big guys are out I'm not as scared of the super soakers as I would be. The big issue again will be rebounding. The one matchup that has me worried is Lohner against our bigs. He is very athletic and a rebounding machine. Its so frustrating we are so stinky at rebounding other than Jones. Does Bolomboy have any eligibility left? If we can keep the rebounds even and limit offensive boards, I think we can hang with the Soakers. Their best player is Barcello and he is damn good, but we will counter with our best player McEwen. That will be a fun matchup. I like our other 2 guards Jawara and Jamison against their 2 other guards Lucas and Knell. I might even give Weber a slight edge there. Jones will be matched up most likely against Knight. He is good, but I would give Jones an edge there. Bench play will be an edge to the Soakers. Porter needs to figure it out. He was a no show against the Aggies and would be nice if Tucker Carlson, Kozak and Basset could contribute more. What is up with Basset anyway? He was so good for us last year and really has not played at all this year. Same with Kozak. I think Tew can be a good player for us, but he got his ass kicked against the Aggies and is a Freshman. The rotation at the big positions has been puzzling this year. So my keys to the game. Rebounding and better bench play. I doubt the Soakers will shoot as good as the Aggies, that was insane. If Weber can do that we have a chance. I'm going with Weber 74 Soakers 70.

BYU is not full strength, and the game being at home should be enough for the Wildcats to be able to win, but I think games against talented teams are revealing some very concerning weaknesses that may not be able to fixed this year.

I think BYU wins 90-78. Rahe’s apathy, pregame surrenders, and treating theses games as good tune-ups for conference play has set in. Ironically, it’s the bigger in state teams that get more fired up for these games in addition to the smaller in state teams. Coach Pope can play Rahe like a fiddle…I remember the beat down UVU put on WSU at the Dee a few years ago where their players trash talked and showed up the Wildcats players…and there was no response. The Wildcats players just took it. Any self-respecting team would have got physical or thrown down if necessary.

Sure Washington State and USU had great shooting nights, but defense or in game adjustments can stop or slow those down. The running into a buzz saw line will get old.

I think you can see the fans are not interested in coming to games where the coach or institution as a whole doesn’t really care. It will be a big crowd tonight, but 2/3 to 3/4 will be Cougar fans.

Like to see the Wildcats get a win. The one thing I’ve learned is to not care more about the team than the program does. I think we have a very talented team, but Rahe will find a way not to win, talk about a lack of rhythm and it just wasn’t Weber States night tonight. This will help us get ready for conference play and help us in putting in the new offense.

beating the "soakers" as wazzucat calls them would be amazing but not so likely, nor will there be a big crowd tho i wish there could be and i will be there for sure. we haven't beat the men who soak twice in a row in ogden since the 90s. sucks to think our win streak against the whole state could be half ruined in a 3 day span. here is to hoping and praying to the golden gods of mount dew that we pull off the victory.

did anyone see that tv show get shorty with chris o'dowd? his hitman sidekick is mormon and kills people for a living but doesn't drink, smoke or break other rules. he mentions this "provo soak" on the show, maybe that is what wazzu is referring? if so, its highly offensive...and i approve!
