Does byu win by 20, 30, or 40?

Wow, you would think at some point Rahe could beat these dorks on our home court. Won't be this year.

The program seems like such a joke right now. I mean 10
Students standing vs. Oral Roberts was just sad.

As long as the coaches keep up with the flash cards we'll be alright. :wall:
I mean it's worked for Stew, how many NCAA wins does he have?

Ugh...agreed! So much is not working right now for Weber State. There is absolutely no student pride in the institution and on top of that, it seems as if the administration (especially athletics) has given up on trying to increase attendance or build any sort of student support.

As for the game. Can Weber keep up? The Cats cannot score. We have athletes but not basketball players.

Who needs student support when the athletic department and administration can fill a charter jet full of their families and have a nice vacation in the Virgin Islands.

Sad...

There are signs on campus now for the game. To bad it is finals week and there really aren't a lot of students on campus. The time to get the word out was last week. Like athletics always does, just doing enough. Look at the first football game of the season. No marketing all summer and the marketing director did just enough to keep his job. He gave out 300K free ticket vouchers and still only 14K showed up. That to me is pathetic. How much did Weber make from that game too? I bet it was barely over $14K. How much money in revenue is athletics making from ticket sales? Yes, I realize that most revenue, at this point, is made from other areas: sponsor-ships, donations, club memberships, etc etc. But having extra revenue flowing in, not to mention the development of a fan base from current students, missed alumni, and community who can be extra sources of individuals/companies willing to donate, give gifts, or provide sponsorships, would be a nice chunk of change that athletics could utilize to build its programs, improve its facilities, increase recruitment options, create camps, develop academics, and pay teams to visit your house. You'd think this would be something athletics would be interested in doing. Also, media is also more prone to support those programs that fill stadiums and have a following. What the HELL...seriously. Why would you not want to do those things that could create a larger following?

A week ago I told family/friends BYU was going to win by 30 so I'll stick with that even though I think after the zoobs take the last 10 minutes off, Weber makes a run and gets it down to about 23. I really don't want to see this beat down but I struggle to give tix away so I doubt I could sell them.

- 11 game Weber losing streak.
- Average loss point margin -17
- Average home loss point margin -14
- Worst loss -30 (at home)
- # of 20+ point losses 4
- Average Weber score 66 (65 at home -- gotta love when you score less on your home court)
- Average BYU score 81 (79 at DEC)

I'm surprised BYU will even come to Ogden anymore. Rahe can't compete and could care less about it.

Coach mentioned that he is grateful that a program like BYU will still come to Ogden. He did say that starting next year we will play at Energy Solutions then the following year in Provo then the following year in Ogden.

Now I wouldn't bet any money on WSU beating the Cougs but you never know what will happen when the game starts. If WSU can play up to their potential and keep Haws and Co from going off we could have a chance. You never know, no one thought the Raiders would have a chance against the 49ers either...

BYU by 30...the monkey wearing the Y sweater has a firm grasp on Coach Rahe's back...expect a better crowd, but likely more than half will be BYU fans, the Cougars pride themselves in their fan attendance at road games everywhere...Cougars focus right now is on the Utes at Marriot Ctr on Wednesday nite. Anymore, Cougars look at a Weber State on their schedule as an automatic win, including the women's team...Weber women play at BYU tomorrow nite. Not optimistic at all in either case!

BAD & SAD :ohno: So hey, WILDCATS, prove me wrong, please!

At Weber State Sports there is a preview for the game. It is really interesting, but at least it is something. I like the one that was done last time the Cougs visited.

This is the old one. Ha! It was well done.

I really miss a lot of those players. Scotty B, Mook, Tres, Berry, J Rich, yes even Gelaun.

The new one:

look in the Wildcat TV area. On the right hand side of the screen.

Where? What? Huh? :ohno:

For anyone interested, Utah beat BYU 65-61 for it's first win in Provo since 2005 (?). Cougs put up a good fight & defensively used some tough zone at times to narrow the gap with the Utes. Wildcats, are you paying attention? Repeat---ZONE! :coffee:

They will be zoning the hell out of us. Our man needs to be aggressive, but I hope that Rahe is willing to mix up his defenses. Utah showed that the Y can definitely be slowed down. I'm not totally shocked by this, but a tad surprised. Utah is really good. LK, as much as I don't like him, has done a really great job on the hill. Chances are good that this could be his last year at the U (take that Sir Velo). Utah has a great basketball tradition (Utah was known for basketball long before Urban Meyer and football), but it doesn't compare with or have the $$$ that other PAC-12 and Big 5 programs have. I could see him moving to a program in the same conference.

Contrary to current opinion, I think that coach really wants this win. Rose just has his number. Our team is athletic. We can run with the Cougs, but the issue isn't if we can run with them, it is if we can slow them down. This and whether or not the Cats can finally start hitting their shots.

Austin is out for the Weber State Game!

After starting the first nine games of the season for BYU, senior forward Nate Austin was unable to help the Cougars in Wednesday’s 65-61 home loss to No. 13 Utah after injuring his right hamstring in pregame warmups.

Thursday evening head coach Dave Rose revealed the severity of the injury, as it’s a torn hamstring that is expected to sideline Austin for “at least two weeks.” The 6-foot-11 Austin is averaging 3.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, with the latter figure being second-best on the team behind Kyle Collinsworth (7.1 rpg).

This news means that BYU will be without its most experienced front court player for the time being. The Cougars have games against Weber State, Stanford and UMass to play before they begin WCC play at home against No. 9 Gonzaga on December 27. Players such as freshmen Isaac Nielson and Corbin Kaufusi should see more minutes as a result of Austin’s injury, and the BYU guards will need to continue to rebound as well.

Three of BYU’s top four rebounders are perimeter players: Collinsworth, Tyler Haws (4.3 rpg) and Anson Winder (4.2 rpg).

I'd rather have him play than Collinworth or Haws... but I'll take any help we can get.

I am calling it right now, the Wildcats will win tomorrow night. Let's Go Cats!

I'm not sure what to expect. You can't figure out this Weber State team, but maybe they come out with attitude to protect their house! The scary thing is that BYU scores points. We struggle on offense. I don't know if we have the offensive firepower to keep up with them.

Let's hope that Rahe decides it's time to shake things up a little bit.

Guessing we might see a different starting lineup tonight but overall we will still see the same personnel. Perhaps James starting at the 5 and bring Golden off the bench? Freshmen will not see any significant time. Afraid the results will be about the same - turnovers and rebounds will be the story line. Perhaps bringing Golden off the bench will help with bench scoring? Wish I could predict a win but ...

It really isn't a question of whether the Wildcats will win or lose, it's a question of how far will they lose to the Cougars. BYU just reloads with experience & talent each year, no matter who Coach Rahe plays in the games against them. Rahe says this Weber team is "offensively challenged" right now (today's SE sports article by Garside), and it will take time to gain the experience badly needed. Interesting read on KSL.com yesterday (by Jon Oglesby Re: Weber State sports) titled 'Rahe, Weber value playing in-state games', Rahe was quoted "they're priceless". Went on to say that he was happy that Rose & Morrill play Weber, especially in Ogden, "because the new wave is teams like that want to get away from playing on somebody else's home court that is supposedly lower level." But ofcourse, Coach Rahe said the nature of in-state rivalries helps players prepare for the adversity of conference play. "When you get to conference play, the intensity goes up." "These games have that, so they prepare you well for conference games."

Uh-huh, he's right, got it! But a few of us unsatisfied Wildcat fans would really like more than a RARE win once in awhile against USU & a WIN (period) against BYU--it's been more than a decade since that's happened! I suppose too that Coaches Rose & Morrill will have no problem with playing in Ogden - for their fans here - as long as they continue to dominate & win. :wall:
