Okay, lets get this going. Saturday is quickly approaching. I am getting pretty excited for the game...BYU got back into the game against the Utes after being absolutely destroyed in the first half. One thing that we can expect is dirty play from the BYU team. Can't believe Emery punched Taylor. There is absolutely no reason for that type of thing to ever happen. I will lose a lot of respect for Rose if he doesn't suspend Emery for Saturday's game.

I think he forgot that he wasn't playing church ball, but an actual DI game.

To me, it looks like Little Nicky was trying to impress the BYU Cheer Gals.

Isn't it a rule if you get a flagrant 2 foul then you are suspended one game? What a dick!! Apparently he told him to "stay down bitch" after. Anyway, I would like to think Weber State has a chance against BYU, but for whatever reason Weber State always seems to have an off game against BYU and BYU always has a couple guys that are not main players that go off and have career games. Like last year Neilson couldn't miss. He sucks too. He transferred to UVU after the season. BYU is a big team. They start 2 guys over 6'8. BYU is a great 3 point shooting team. Even without Emery. I actually think Weber matches up well with BYU except Collingsworth. UGH. He is a match up nightmare for anyone. If he has one of his triple double kind of nights then we are screwed. I think we should play some zone against BYU. I just don't think we have anyone that can guard Collingsworth. BYU doesn't look like a great defense team. They are kind of slow. Too many white guys. haha. I will say that they are a great passing team, and a great shooting team. I actually think it will be a fairly close. We have not beat these turds since 2003. We are due right????? I will be there in my purple gear. Go WEBER

Lets have everyone that is sitting close bring boxing gloves on Saturday.

Greg Wrubel said that he believes Emery is getting a one game suspension that will be served against Weber.

I thought before last night that we had a good chance and I still think we do. They couldn't stop the athletic big man last night and I don't think they will be able to stop our athletic big man either. We need to rebound better. I don't think totally stopping Collinsworth is an option, but if we can slow him down and not give away a bunch of open looks at 3 we will be good.

I really want to be optimistic in this one. But I have now heard for the second time from coach how veteran they are. Almost like he is preparing to get beat and lining up the we got beat by a more veteran team excuse. The truth is that BYU isn't that veteran they get a lot of minutes from freshman and sophomores. Even with Davis and Fischers minutes at other schools, we have more minutes on the floor than they have.

Minutes coming into this season as BYU Cougars
Fischer SR 914 minutes (transferred from Wake - 439)
Collinsworth SR 2155 minutes
Davis JR 0 (transferred from USU 726 minutes)
Emery FR 0
Kaufusi SO 560 minutes
Austin SR 1762
Aytes SO 0
Toolson SO 202
Total minutes for BYU 5593
Minutes if you count time at other schools for transfers 6858

Weber State
Joel Bolomboy SR 2703
Jeremy Senglin JR 1774
Richaud Gittens JR 1694
McKay Cannon FR 0
Dusty Baker FR 0
Zach Braxton RSFR 0
Kyndahl Hill JR 1368

Total minutes for Weber 7,539

Don't fall for it, again. Rage has no competitive fire to beat in-state. In fact, he seem intimidated to try. We've heard similar lines for 5 years, if not 10. Conspiracy theory: Rage was planted at Weber State to ensure top tier state teams get their wins while still playing lowly WSU, the pac X threw a wrench in that by picking up the pukes.

its hard to look forward to this game when rahe is 0-9 vs byu. its hard to comprehend he is the worst coach in wsu history vs the in-state yet will retire with the most wins and most big sky titles in big sky history. i believe prior to the rahe era 4 in a row was our worst losing streak to any of the 3.

Emery is out, so who is the random BYU nobody that's gonna go off and score 40 on us tomorrow? :wall:

BYU game notes say Toolson at 6'5. Their starters go 6'10, 6'8, 6'6, 6'5 & 6'3.

Fischer PG, Toolson SG, Collinsworth SF, Davis PF, and Kaufusi C?

I like our chances against that lineup. First off their bench? I don't know anything about BYU. My guess...we will see Austin again, hopefully we play defense on him this year. The other two guys off the bench, Jordan Chatman and Zac Seljaas, maybe Cory Calvert or Hartsock? They have Seljaas listed as a G.

Even with Emery, I feel Weber has the deeper bench. They have a lot of lurch like guys on their team and a lot of youth. Rose is depending a lot on Collinsworth, Davis, and Kaufusi. Bolomboy owes Davis! He made him like like a wee lad two years ago when we played USU here at the Dee (another loss that never should have happened, YIKES...Weber should have three more wins over USU. This is pissing me off!).

Cannon vs. Fischer...I believe this will actually be Senglin vs. Fischer and I call it a draw.
Senglin vs. Toolson...I believe this will actually be Cannon vs. Toolson and I think Cannon is the better defender and Toolson is the better offensively (McKay can catch fire though at anytime)
Baker vs. Collinsworth...Rahe should start Gittens over Baker in this one. Rashaud totally limited Collinsworth last year, but either way...Collinsworth
Bolomboy vs. Davis... BOLOMBOY
Braxton vs. Kaufusi...Push

Bench...Hill, Baker/Gittens, John and Richardson (I think he gets more mins this game)/Williams vs. Hartsock, Austin, Chatman, and Seljaas...Weber

We need to get the win to make this week a BYU fans bad banana split.
The banana - Getting their butts handed to them by Utah
The Ice Cream - Nick Emery's punch and suspension
The Whip Cream - Bronco Mendenhal leaving for Virginia
THE CHERRY ON TOP - Losing to WEBER

Would be like an early Christmas present

It was Issac Neilson that went crazy last year, not Nate Austin. Austin was hurt this time last year.

This is a huge game for both teams, I don't think BYU can afford another loss this early in the season and it would be a huge boost for a Weber team that has found its rhythm of late.

Weber is shooting lights out and still two down at the half. WHY? (1) They are allowing too many offensive rebound/putbacks, and (2) they need to up the defensive intensity. Its going to take some breaks, a little luck and lots of intensity to pull this one out. Go Cats!!

Did Weber go home at the half?

That's one of the things Weber has needed to fix for the past several years (starting fast and fading in the second half). I can remember a few times where they were demolishing Utah State at the half and disappeared in the second half and lost.

Having said that, BYU is generally a lot more talented than Utah State. I haven't been too disappointed with Weber's competitiveness today other than some turnovers, but that's bound to happen when you play a team with more talent than 95% of your other opponents.
