BYU

I am stuck in Christmas traffic on Riverdale road, and am listening on KSL. Do we have a radio station this year? 1430 was Weber's station.

Glad I didnt pay the 50+ bucks to watch my team kneel during the anthem in person

I wouldn’t pay $50 for anything involving BYU or Rande Rahe.

Does anyone know why this was played in SLC?

Was it on the schedule pre-COVID to be in SLC this year? Was there an angry mob of mask protesters threatening to crash the game if it was in Provo and it was moved to SLC as a security measure? Was this year originally supposed to be in Ogden? Not a big fan of the SLC thing. Just curious.

I think you guys played pretty good....Looks like you got some decent bigs.....Carlson, Bassett and Kozak can be a force if you can ever get Rahe to use them properly but I doubt Rahe will adjust his game to his personnel....Rahe loves guards.....

Not sure current or former players care whether you come to the games or not. If you aren’t going to show respect for an American right to protest than don’t come back at all. No player is gonna miss you lol

I will never kneel myself but the players have the right to. If you told me last year that I would say that i would have gotten mad at myself. But I have changed my mind.

I acknowledge their right to protest. But by your own logic my right to protest their false narrative protest should be just as respected. I dont care if they care or not if I'm not there. But if I was Weber i would be careful, we've all seen what political grandstanding has done to pro sports I'm not the only one who feels this way....

Yes, wildkyle, the times they are a changing. Even the NFL and NASCAR have changed their minds on this. Good on you!

Kind of offensive to these young men to call it a "false narrative protest" and "political grandstanding." You've never walked in their shoes or experienced the things they have. If this is how you feel I'm sure they'd prefer you don't attend their games. I'd kind of prefer that as well.

Spoiler Alert....... I dont care what you think of me nor my beliefs. I do not agree with the narrative they are kneeling for because of how hypocritical the movement is. That is my belief and I'm entitled to it and I dont need any holier than thou woke warrior telling me what i can and cant believe in.

I'm with you 100% on this one, WILDCAT. This was the only time in my life I actually rooted for BYU basketball. The players only have the right to offend those who love their country and want to escape the the political bull :shit: because their employer (i.e. college education or indoctrination as the case may be for bouncing a ball) allows them to. My employer and many, many other employers won't allow their resources or their employees' paid time to be used to offend a percentage of their customer base. Disrespecting the flag and National Anthem at sporting events does absolutely nothing for their cause, but it does turn of many customers, most of whom have nothing to do with their grievances anyway. If their protest is a way of labeling me a racist-- well, they can kiss my white ass! I certainly won't financially support any organization who wants me to pay to have that organization disrespect and offend instead of entertain or whatever they are being paid to do. I haven't watched, attended, or purchased anything NFL or NBA since this crap began and won't until they get back to doing what they're employed to do. WSU sports are no different-- I saw all I need to know what this year's bball players are about. They won't miss me not watching, I understand that; I won't miss watching or supporting them either.

We're all entitled to our opinions and points of view, but I really struggle to understand the offense that comes with these athletes/people taking a knee during the anthem.

This summer the protests in many cities turned violent. Thats not something I support, nor to my knowledge has any member of the Weber State basketball program. Yet during those protests I would often hear people say things like, sure they have the right to protest, but violence isnt the answer. Well now, something as non violent as taking a knee is still too much. I had the pleasure of enlisting in the US Navy, and have had grandfathers, and uncles who have served as well. I personally do not feel attacked because people choose to protest during an anthem.

I get the feeling that some of you dont understand how entire communities of people in this country feel as if they are treated as second class citizens. Harassment from law enforcement, to looks of judgement just for entering a store are things that have effected players at Weber St. and other athletes across the country. Is it your belief that these things dont happen? I fully respect any athlete peacefully taking a knee if they feel that is how they want to speak to their experience.

When I look at the Weber St. team, I see a group of men who stand for themselves and their community. They support the democratic process by volunteering at our local polling place. They stay out of trouble and represent the team and university with pride. Last year WSU lost to BYU by 30 and never had a chance. This year they fought the entire way, only losing by 8. They lost on the road at Boise St. by 11. That same team beat New Mexico by 37 this week. They put in countless hours into basketball, and the class room with the goal of earning a degree.

If you dont want to support that, thats your right. But I think a little humility to listen to different perspectives is something that we can all benefit from.

Merry Christmas to all!

But protesting by not going to games and then getting on a forum in support/relation to the team isn’t hypocritical? And then you and everyone else who believes this says you won’t miss it? Come on now. I see more motive and conviction in the players protest than I see in yours. I respect that you have beliefs and I’m not saying you are bad person for having those beliefs but the lack of education on the situation and political propaganda is evident in your protest. I’m sure you will come up with a snarky reply about my beliefs are more propaganda than yours or I listen to fake news. Whatever it’s gonna be I’m sure you feel that you are right because that’s your opinion right, Ryan Hennessy?

I appreciate your comment and couldn’t have said it any better. Happy Holidays!

Just hearing the news of Ty Jordan's death. It is so heartbreaking that these are the kinds of things so many in the black community have to experience all the time. While I can't completely understand their pain as I've lived a very sheltered and privileged life, I will stand with anyone who feels that taking a knee during the anthem is their way of expressing their hurt and desire for change.
