NOT a good start from them, this team got more hype then any school in the nation, and Erik Ainge and crew handed it to them

I doubt we will even keep it close with them, but if they over look us we could catch them by surprise

there key athlete is Marshawn Lynch, if we can't get to him it could be a long day but................

Pretty good indication that if Cal doesn't have their running game going on, they will struggle. He only had 74 rushing yards, and less than 100 all purpose yards. The key will be to do exactly what Tennessee did on defense.

This is proof that you must have either an above average QB and a great RB or a great QB and an above average RB.

Cal has poor play at QB right now and it is killing them just like it did most of last year with Ayoob. I think Levy is their best option. Hopefully they won't play him against PSU.

Hmmm... to read marty's post on the other board, it was the usual story of a win.

Offensive line. Defensive line.

For instance, if you get a look at tape of Oregon v Stanford, it was very much a domination by the Ducks in both phases. They can make a running back look really good... though Jonathan Stewart IS good.

The PSU D2 playoff runs included one heck of a D-line.

Didn't mean to marginalize the importance of a great O-Line. There is no doubt that neither the passing or running game functions without their positive influence. Just simply stating that given an adequate O-Line (and PSU has much better than an adequate O-Line) that you need top notch talent at both the QB and TB position. Right now PSU is not playing with a TB that has above average ability and will struggle in the run game. Hope Ali get well soon and the run game doesn't cost PSU between now and then.

At one point against UNM, PSU went with two FBs in I formation. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't due to Ho'okano getting banged up on the previous play. I think that it had a lot to do with the running game not being effective at the time...

I think that the UNC game will tell a lot on where we are. UNM had tremendous speed on their team defense.

who does california play this week? we need to be the team with momentum going into this game, despite there QB confusion, they are the #23 team in the nation so........
