Can't Wait to Start the Rivalry

Just wanted to stop by and say I'm stoked we have each other back on the schedule this year. Hopefully with Coach Lamb turning the program around in Cedar City, we can get a great rivalry built up between our 2 schools. Good luck with the season and see you in a few months.

Go TBIRDS!

I'm really looking forward to the SUU game as much as any game Weber has this season, and excited that the T Birds will now be on the schedule every year. I think this can really become a strong rivalry.

It sounds like you all should have a good team this year. You've got a hell of a QB in Sorensen. But he'll be throwing to some new targets, as all of his top WRs from last season are now gone. The loss of Poots may really be felt. So who's going to step in at WR, and how do you see this effecting Sorensen?

And are you guys ever going to get a fan board?

Weber and SUU fans have been waiting 5 years for this, now with BYU and Utah going thier seperate ways, we have the chance to build a strong instate and inconference rivalry.

TBIRDFAN, have any good ideas for a name for this rivalry? personally I like the Civil War, north vs south

Welcome TBird...glad that SUU is in the Sky.

Hasn't there been a rivalry since the 80s though? I would like a traveling trophey of some sort created.

Its not much of a rivalry, the teams stopped playing each other for like 5 straight years. Now that we are going to be playing each other every year, we have a chance to get a REAL rivalry going. You can tell that this is gonna be our biggest home game, and Im willing to bet the atmosphere is gonna be solid. this is a long awaited game.

I think the creaters of this board and all the other Big Sky boards are going to create one for all the incoming Big Sky schools, of course Im not entirely sure.

The loss of the recievers will be tough, but luckily our O Line returns intact and we have our 2 leading rushers back. That should take some pressure off the receivers, but I don't expect there to be alot of drop off. We also got a few new FBS transfers in at receiver, so that should help ease the pains of losing our first team all american.

As for a traveling trophy, I'm all for it. Maybe a Golden Spike trophy?

FYI, SUU actually averaged 7,076 people per game last year while WSU averaged only 6,913. What a disgrace to get beat in attendance by them especially when you consider how tiny the town of Cedar City is. :wtf:
I would love to hear WSU's excuse on this one. :ohno:

#1- They were trying to get an at-large playoff spot and actively recruiting people to games.
#2- No competition. What else are you going to do in Cedar? If SUU stays good, they'll draw that amount each and every year.
#3- Weber's numbers are always lower than actual numbers. They DO NOT count students which usually number at least 1-2 thousand fans.

#1, Shouldnt WSU be out recruiting people to go to games? (Marketing)
#2, that's a tired and overused excuse. WSU has a large population base living within 25 minutes of the stadium.
#3 who says SUU's fan counting system is any more accurate than WSU's?

I totally agree here. :dead:

#2, that's a tired and overused excuse. WSU has a large population base living within 25 minutes of the stadium.

And 40 minutes to Rice Eccles, 1 minute to television screens to watch BYU or Utah.

#3 who says SUU's fan counting system is any more accurate than WSU's?

Then why make the argument? If both are flawed than statistics are meaningless. There is no reason to take an accurate measure of attendance at our level. There are no NCAA penalties for low attendance in FCS.

Our attendance numbers are wack, If you look at pictures of our games vs UNC and Davis, there is definetely more people there than indicated, it said we had 10,221 for the UCD game, And to me it looked like our crowd vs UNC was much larger (7,219)

Not to mention, when we have 5,000 crowds at the Dee they look EXCEPTIONATELY smaller than the 5,000 crowds we supposedly get at Stewart

What Weber needs is turnstiles that way something COUNTS how many comes into the stadium, Im willing to bet money that our attendance would increase if we had turnstiles. The Dee needs them to

We don't have a board, but I'm hoping we get one next year when we join the Big Sky
