Capitol City Classic?

Don't get your shorts in knots...the HBCU's have a history of playing neutral site games in all sorts of places...sometimes thousand of miles from their campuses. IMO, its no big deal and will have no bearing on our home game on Sept. 13.

I totally disagree. Why don't they play in Stockton at Stagg? Or Fresno? I think it will completely draw against us: 1. The Bee will promote the sh*t out of it, while leaving us in a 'Regional Notes' section. 2. The casual fan will attend just to watch the bands. 3. The city/county and Sac Sports Commission will also promote this as a 'draw' of other sports to the fine city of Sacramento.

San Jose did this and drew 20K+, at least they were smart enough to schedule the game against the Spartans.

I guess they will play in Hughes?

We should welcome these two schools. It is not about Sac State. These are two historical black colleges who will have their specific audience.

I agree, but it would have been nice if they scheduled it on a week that Sac was on the road.

Is this a football game at Hornet Stadium? If so, why would teams travel so far to play and are these college teams? What about their own fans having to travel? Capitol City Classic sounds like a tennis match!

Not possible, if the Bee is to be believed. Someone on the BW Boards referenced a Bee article stating that Amos Alonzo Stagg Memorial Stadium, which has been used for soccer, pro football, and possibly field hockey since UOP "suspended" the football program, has been condemned.

Why I never saw anything about this in either the Record or the Lodi News-Sentinel, I have no idea.

I think that it is only the press box that has been condemned.

With all the money they will make, have the organization kick down some of the gate receipt for repairs. I am sure Spanos is happy knowing his monetary donation to build the press box has been allowed to rot.

I believe Spanos has temporaily cut ties to UOP until they either get rid of their President and AD or reinstate football.

The president just "retired." About freaking time. Of course, your assertion about that punk Spanos may have had something to do with it behind the scenes.

While there was ZERO chance of football's "suspension" being lifted with Dumb-Dumb deRosa in office, I would think that this would be a golden opportunity to hire a president with the cajones to do just that. And if deRosa's sycophant AD King tries to hold out on that (as he probably will), then the new prez can just can HIM, too.
