greetings hornet fans. BIG game this saturday, as i'm sure you know, with the Montana State Bobcats looking to prove their mettle against a hungry hornet team.
what can i say, the cats look pretty damn good so far, but this could easily qualify as a "trap" game. we did a pretty good job of cutting up EWU last saturday and have two big wins over inferior opponents. our only loss came against washington state(gave up a 15 point 4th qtr lead :x )
cats are no doubt better than the team you faced last november, most notably a freshman QB running a more dynamic offense. we still love to run the ball and also (still) play mean defense; give up something like 73 yds/gm on the ground so far. we have a stud DL coming back from suspension this week.
bobcat players to watch:
denarius mcghee, QB(yep, he's REALLY a freshman)
orenzo davis and CJ palmer, RB--davis is explosive, palmer is a horse
elvis akpla and everett gilbert, WR---gilbert is probably our best player; catches passes, takes handoffs and runs the "wildcat"
the ENTIRE defensive line---heavily rotated will little to no drop-off from "starters" to "2s"; these guys play pissed off.
the ENTIRE linbacking corp---all three are studs, and FAST. strongside is a freshman walk-on; leads the team in tackles. 2s are also very capable.
jason cunningham, K. skinny kid with a big leg; drilled 55 yarder 2 weeks ago(woulda been good from 65)
weaknesses:
return game--was a problem last year, nothing has really changed
o-line depth--kinda banged up right now. have lost a starter in each game this year.
secondary--tendancy to give up some yardage, especially against bigger WRs. they are physical though.
looking forward to a good game
go Cats!!!
