Sac running game was punishing. 65 rushes and TOP 35 minutes.

The 2 turnovers by Davis kept the Hornets around. Davis has had issues finishing and running up the margin of victory all season.

Great crowd from Sac today- always great to see the opposing band in a rivalry game.

QB issue needs to be addressed over there- 3/9 for 17 yards and an INT is embarrassing and may have been a major difference in the game.

Coach P is a real P. No great UCD coach would say they never want to play the causeway again. Those UCD coaches wanted to play even when D2 and Sac FCS. It’s not like UCD is going to Ivy League or ACC any time soon. Coach P

Doesn't make sense for Davis to play Causeway as an away game every year (FBS Sac isn't coming to Davis).
It doesn't make sense for Davis to play their FBS game for less money every year (Sac ain't paying $700k).
It doesn't make sense for Davis to give up program exposure to stay in Sac Metro vs. BIG10/MWC for their yearly FBS game.

In the D2 vs. 1-AA days, the teams shared home games, and there were no money issues. Different era.

You guys don’t even know your own conference, big sky or MWC is quite similar moving forward where teams like Nevada, San Jose St, and Hawaii are the core of MWC moving forward. It’s not sellouts hosting Boise or anything like that

I mean, we won seven games with absolutely zero ability to throw the football this year. Like literally zero. And had an FBS upset in the bag. There were many critical decisions made throughout the year that left us scratching our heads, but overall our ability to absolutely dominate in the run game was impressive.

Now, I just hope there is a plan for quarterback and that our 4 star WR commit doesn’t run for the hills!

We need a bit more balance w OC play calling. We were too predictable being ineffective in the pass game, work to be done. Ugh

Huge improvement over last seasons team Andy Thompsons team. But…FB has work to do.

On one hand, it is highly impressive to be able average 262+ yards and 5.5+ yards per carry per game when the opposition knows it’s coming nearly 3/4ths of the time.

However, in this day and age, a 72/28 run to pass ratio just isn’t a recipe for long term success — especially to close out close games. This isn’t the 1970’s or early 1980’s anymore. And this is college football, not small school high school football.

Not only are one-dimensionality and predictability low percentage tactics, how the hell do you expect to be able to recruit worthwhile skill talent at the QB and receiver positions throwing the ball so damned infrequently?

I’m one that typically subscribes to a “run it until they prove they can stop it” philosophy. But you’ve got to have answers when your opponent is able to slow your rush attack down from time to time, or when penalties put you well behind the sticks.

Sure, the Hornets easily beat a terrible Portland State team only throwing the ball 11x. And they nearly beat UCD today only throwing it 9x.

But perhaps they could have closed out the game today had they balanced things out a bit more in Q4 once the opponents defense became more desperate by selling out on 1st and 2nd down runs?

If your starting QB isn’t capable of making the types of throws that are needed — why is he even on the roster, let alone the starter?

Judging by the decision to immediately ditch the Big Sky and also by its do-or-die intent on moving up to FBS — it seems very evident that UCD doesn’t factor into Sac State’s thinking (or future plans) much at all.
