OK, so I'm a couple of weeks behind with this, but here goes. The CFL is entering Week 3, so here's our Sac update on the first couple of weeks.
Week 1 was a snoozer for both known Hornets in the CFL. On 27 Jun, Charles Roberts contributed points in a 23-16 Winnipeg Bluebombers loss to Toronto. He scored a touchdown while gaining 76 yards on 13 carries. Chuck also chipped in 19 yards on 4 catches and misfired on a pass. An interesting side note is that the Argos picked up NFL washout Mike Vanderjagt, who got a single on a missed FG.
A day later, Ricky Ray had a ho-hum day as his Edmonton Eskimos tanked one in Regina 34-13. Ricky was 25-37 for 249 yards with a pick. He also picked up a dozen yards with his legs on 7 carries and fumbled once (it was saved).
Things were MUCH better offensively (at least for Ricky) in Week 2. The Bombers scored more points, but Chuck wasn't much of a factor as he gained an anemic 11 yards on attempts with a TD. Chuch also got 17 yards on 4 catches. Winnipeg lost in Montreal 38-24.
Edmonton hosted Calgary while Ricky went wild. A 27-41-448-3TD effort earned Ricky CFL Offensive Player of the Week honors. Ricky also grabbed 8 yards on 3 rushes.
If you have a Canadian network or even Altitude on your dish, be sure to check out Toronto vs. Edmonton at 7 Cali time tomorrow night and BC vs. Winnepeg at 5 on Friday in Week 3 action. The TOR-EDM game is particularly intriguing if you want to see how far the mighty have fallen in terms of kickers. LOL.
Go Hornets!!!
