Championship Game

Wow, Jimmy, you really are a dink. You come on here and say you didn't even watch the game, then you start lecturing Rahe (who has won 86 percent of his games at home, BTW) on what he did wrong. Amazing. I'll tell you what, when you get ready to run Randy out of town, just direct him north to Pocatello. We'll take him -- he's one helluva coach and a good guy to boot.

And FWIW, that performance by AJ was just amazing, truly one for the ages. I know it's hard for Weber fans to appreciate it right now because it's so painful, but you guys just happened to be on the wrong side of history for one night.

Good luck in the NIT. NIT-ology is a good site to follow for their projections on who will make it in the NIT and where they'll be seeded. Right now they have you guys a 7th seed, which means you'll be on the road. I know most of you don't care right now, but in a few days you'll get your chins up and ready to go. Win a couple of games for Big Sky, will ya? The league record in the NIT is abysmal (I think 1-7), so we need you guys to make a statement.

The grizzlee basketball team is going to the NCAA tournament, and their fans are already planning for a loss so they can return to football?

Why don't you give it a shot? You may actually win a game.

After just barely coming to grips with what happened last night, I was going to make a post, but this post from Begal visitor sums up my thoughts precisely.

10 Reasons I don't like Randy Rahe:
1. Midgets weren't meant to be basketball coaches.
2. How can you control a team when you can't control your own actions and break your hand punching a basketball standard?
3. I don't think he knows how to pronounce his own last name
4. I think you have to be from Alabama to be named Randy.
5. Zero tournament wins in two consecutive years with home court in the Big Sky tournament.
6. Letting a slightly-above-average player like Johnson score 42 points on your team.
7. Blowing a 20 point halftime lead when the rules allow you to hold on to the ball for 35 seconds on each possession.
8. Not owning up to the biggest loss of your career.
9. Being Stew Morrill's b***h for way too long.
10. Turning Weber State into a punchline on national TV.

For a guy who is ashamed to wear his Weber gear on campus at Nebraska you are coming across like a fool. There are people who know who you are on this forum, and you are really embarrassing yourself  so you might just want to stop.

JimmyD, you are making your little brother look way cooler than you. Stay in Nebraska and don't bother coming to any games next year.

Here's the thing. I was watching some Big 12 tournament action in the gym last night (I was unable to change the channel to ESPN 2 because everyone there would have killed me), and scores start flashing along the bottom of the screen. Weber State 40, Montana 20. So I'm thinking...ok, Weber has this game won, they're going to the NCAA's, at least I have that to look forward to in this hell that my life has become. Then, about 1:00 a.m. this morning, I got curious about how badly Weber State blew the Grizzlies away. I was thinking at least 35 points. So I pulled up the score on ESPN.com and saw what has yet to actually sink in. Maybe if I had watched the game actually unfold, it would all make sense. But I had detrimentally relied on Weber State winning last night. In my mind, they had already won. That's where the anger is coming from. Maybe that's my fault for assuming that no decent team could possibly blow a lead that big, at home, against a number four seed, after dominating the Big Sky all season. But I was wrong, obviously. However, the comments on the Deseret News support me, if that's worth anything. I actually would have worn a Weber State shirt to school when Weber played in the NCAA's, but it looks like that's not going to happen. Let me say it right now. History will prove me right.

I would still take Randy Rahe over any coach in the State or conference for that matter. UM and Tinkle are nothing more than a flash in the pan. It does not mean that I am not questioning some 2 or 3 things last night, I just got over last years early exit, and will probably be hurting until next season starts, but I am looking forward to beating BYU at home next season, and seeing Richardson lined up with Lillard, Session, Porter, Hughey, Bamforth, Tresnak, Fulton, Davis and really liked how Morris has come on as of late. It is time to get the "We Back Rahe" Billboard up, pm me or smjcpa if you are interested in donating. Anybody calling for Rahes head is probably the same who are ashamed to wear their Weber gear in public, and are fools. We would not even be in the Championship game if it were not for Session, and Rahe.

Most people commenting on Dnews or KSL have not even been to a game this season, let alone last nights game, So who cares. As somebody who was actually at every single home game and 2 road games I can tell you JimmyD43 History will prove you are a 1st class moron.

Ha ha. Glad to see some strong opinions being expressed. In reality, I'd like to see Rahe and the 'Cats avenge this loss next year. It takes disaster to learn a lesson. If this is the worst thing that ever happens to any of us, we'll all live incredibly happy lives. I'm done commenting on this because I'll be in and out of classes for the next while, but feel free to rip on me. It makes me laugh.

Jimmy D, you are officially a DUMB A$$!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I read on different fan boards today I see a lot of supposed WSU fans jumping off the band wagon, I say dont let the door hit you on the A$$ when you leave! I have been an avid WSU fan for 30+ years and I will die an avid WSU fan. I have seen some REALLY SHITTY teams in my days and some REALLY GOOD teams also.
I for one will continue to support WSU for basketball and football, win, lose, or otherwise.

Agreed with you 100%. I back Mac and Rahe. We are spoiled, with those two at our helm. It wasn't too long ago we were stuck with Cravens and Graybeal as coaches. We just need to rally the troops and avenge this loss against a NIT opponent.

Randy Rahe is already numbered among the best coaches in Weber State (Big Sky) history and his career is barely beginning. He is a young coach, that still has a lot to learn, and I'm pretty sure he would be the first one to say that.

No matter what happened last night, Rahe is the Wizard of Weber. He took a program that was at the extreme bottom and revived it after one season. He has the absolute best players in the Sky...ALL coming back next year, and has a great set of recruits and redshirts joining the team next season.

No matter what happened yesterday. I still love watching this team and think, if they get the right attitude, that they could win a couple games in the NIT. In my opinion, and it should be shared by all Weber fans, Rahe will always be welcome at Weber and in Ogden.

Also...DA GRIZ did you even go to a basketball game at Dahlberg this year? Could you even name all the players on your team, without using a roster sheet? Do you know anything about your coaching staff without the media guid? How about their record, who did they beat and who did they lose to without looking up that information?
Don't act like you are an avid basketball fan now that they are goin Dancin. The most disgusting thing about UM fans is how they hate their bball program, players, and coach till they actually win, and then suddenly they are important. Hell, I'd destroy you in a quiz on this years Grizz basketball team. Thats how much WEBER fans love basketball. Fukc your football team. Weber is gonna wipe their a$$es on them come October. I'm pretty sure you are only a bandwagon Grizzly fan. If their football team started to suck you'd probably never post anything again or for that matter attend any Grizz games or events.

NOw for those UM fans that I admire (you all know who you are). I have never seen a more amazing spectacle of athletic prowess in my life. AJ had a night that should be enshirned in not only Grizzly, but Big Sky, basketball lore. Granted, Weber came out flat and thought the game was over at halftime, but nonetheless, they still had a substantial lead and were playing on their home court. No matter, AJ was UM basketball last night. He is the only reason why the Grizz are going dancing. It has nothing to do with Tinkle (even though I really think he is a classy guy, I'm still gonna call him tinklebell though) or the other players. AJ was the only reason why UM had a chance and ended up winning that game. I'm still in shock, and I'm guessing I will be till June, but good luck in the Dance. Make the Sky proud.

3 titles in 4 years!!!

mccarthy and abegglen didnt even do that.

3 legit chances in 4 yrs? no wsu fans have had those odds in 30 yrs!!!!!!!!!
even though its the NIT back to back yrs when was the last time we had a chance for a post season in back to back years? (answer: 1980)
