Hey you guys gave Colorado State quite a scare last season, now you play against UNLV.

What do you guys think your chances vs the Rebels are this season?

That pic you have on your post doesnt indicate the fact that WSU was a co-champ.

I think Sac States chances are pretty good, from what Ive read UNLV isnt going to be all that great and isnt expected to do as well as they did last year in OOC games.

Sac State has a lot of depth at the WR, RB, and QB positions this season, something they didnt have last season.

Realisticly they still are a fbs school so I'd say we will lose but we will show respectfully similar to last year.
My final score prediction: 27-21 UNLV.

FBS isn't a panacea, footballnow. Just look at what Appy did to Michigan and MSU to Wyoming, both of whom are better than UNLV ever dreamed of being.

Sac wins going away.

I'm a big believer in the direction of the program - love what Sperbeck is doing. But I just think there are to many question marks in key areas. The LB's and DB's lack experience, especially against a QB that has some weapons - as UNLV seems to have. I'm also still not sold on our QB situation. Smith did a good job of not throwing interceptions, but on the flip side he only threw for 1,800 yards. I think we will significanlty better production to be a threat in this game and into the season.

I think the Hornets put up a fight, but fall 31-20.

i haven't seen either team, so this is a shot in the dark.

based on the enthusiasm on this board, that i'm a hopeless optomist, and that UNLV is looking beyond their opener, i am picking the Hornets as Winners against the Sinners. Sac 24 - UNLV 17.

The ISU game set me back. Until we prove otherwise on the field with W's, I'd say UNLV by 13.

The environment can't be any more intimidating than UM Jizzly stadium, but the heat can. Has the Broad payed off in conditioning?

I predicted a Sac State loss, which is what I still think will happen. However, with that said, and seeing as I am going to the game, I would love to see Sac State hang with UNLV for most of the game. I am hoping that Sac State doesn’t get demolished and no major injuries are sustained. UNLV knocked off ASU when they were #3 in the nation. ASU turned out to have a disappointing season, but that still says a lot about UNLV stepping up and delivering.

I believe Smith missed a few games due to injury last year which is why he only had 1,800 yards of passing. Even if he goes down, from what I am reading from some of the other posters, we have a back-up who will be ready to step in and produce.

Wow are you guys fans???everytime i put the pads on when i played i had a chance!!!well give florida the the champioship now right!!!!well i think we are going too beat unlv 24-17 ....lets go guys ill be there to celaberate the big win!!!!!

UNLV has some big time playmakers I'm not so sure we can handle...

I'll be happy with no serious injuries and a respectable 24-7 loss...

Co or not, Weber State are still Big Sky Champions.

personaly, I think Sac has a good shot, you guys had a great recruiting class, and here is something else to think about.......Sac lost by 3 at CSU last year, UNLV lost by 13 at CSU last season.

We are a lot better team than we were last year. I think this will be a terrific battle. If we score early, we'll be in this game, if not, then we will struggle, but I believe our defense will keep us in the game. I don't think anyone will be able to run against us this year. Hornets upset the rebels 21-17!

Hey Wildcat,

I pick the Hornets 27-21 over UNLV! Good luck against those Cowboys, I think that you guys are very capable of beating them! It would be sweet if the Big Sky went 2-0 vs the MWC!

Unfortunately Sperbeck and Co. will be over matched. UNLV will probably hang a 4 touchdown margin and a possible shutout is not out of the question. This season could get ugly real fast.

That is my concern as well. Back to back road games against a FBS school followed by a solid FCS program are worrisome. I will be at the game this Saturday so it will be interesting to see how the Hornets open the season. So long as no major injuries are sustained and the Hornets see some relative success on both sides of the ball, I will have a good feeling about how the Hornets will do in the cal poly game. Normally I don’t like seeing an early bye week on the schedule, but this year it is perfectly placed after the cal poly game. They will need the extra week to focus and gear up for conference play. :|

Ah come on, buzz kill :(

i'm feeling an upset. their papers have already admitted the hornets are an unknown commodity. how can they prepare for us, while they've got a bigger game next week ahead of them?

i've heard the hornet locker room is very charged: they know they're perceived as the underdogs, they want to prove themselves, and establish an identity for their team. what a boost would it be if we go out and spank UNLV...

That's what I'm talken about ficky, not overly confident but still beleives that the possibilty of an upset isnt far fetched. And yes, from what I've read, mostly what Sac Rat has provided, the UNLV coaches don't know how to approach the game. They'll most likely try to exploit the inexperienced Hornet secondary, because from what I've read, they dont have much of a running game.

Fear the unknown UNLV, fear the Hornets!

GO HORNETS!
