Choking the chicken...

This summer the Review had an article saying Greater Spokane League O lineman Brandon Schmidt, who played in the East/West All State game, was walking on at Eastern, and also I heard that Cheney's Mike Payne, all Great Northern League O lineman was practicing with the team now. Maybe Vic can give us a report if there are some new big O lineman?. We definitely need some depth at that position.

Great to hear about Post being healthy enough to play. We surely missed his presence the last two games.

That said, WTF is going on with the O-Line so far this season? We have very limited depth, and now we lose enough player who up and quits? Turpin was a RS Sophomore who had plenty of football ahead of him. Kids don't win a starting job so they quit? I don't understand.

Let's hope we can keep the guys that we still do have HEALTHY. I am wondering if B is thinking about pulling a RS from one of the Freshman OL. Anyone know if Gomez is GTG with his HS Transcripts or whatever? How about the kid from Colorado, Curtis who looks like a pretty athletic Tackle at 6'7?

It happens. For whatever reason, some guys just aren't willing to compete and decide to quit. My recruiting class started with 30+ and by the time it was said and done, there were 7 of us who made it all the way to the end of year 5. Some were injuries, some were transfers, but a lot just decided they were through. Good luck to Turpin, whatever he does.

Always take these defections with a grain of salt... I've seen kids come and go, and most who leave do it because they have something more important to deal with at that moment. Hopefully this kid can find a way back to the team or finish up his education here or somewhere else.

Spoeagle,
I did talk with Mike Payne, Cheney High, he is working out with the team. There is another OL/DL transfer from UW, Dercek Westbrook, working out with team, he stated he is learning the playbook at present. Spoke with Coach Graham yesterday, reference Schmitz, Bailey from Prosser, and others may be coming in after school starts.

Gomez, Hill, not in as of yesterday, Coach "B" stated they sould be here by Dec. Forgot which one will be P-48. Will Post was working very hard, he is ready to play and will be making the trip to Montana. He was on the way to get some treatment.

Here are some names that walked on this week. My friend Neal got very great information on all.
Reece Stanley, #48, LB, Napavine, WA., Matt Friese, #21,DB, Willapa Valley, Alex Teade, DB, Colfax, WA,
George Williams, LB, Federal Way, WA. The numbers are temporary. Friese dad will be inducted into Hall Of Fame. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
