CIT Bracket for 2012

this will tell you whether or not getting in the CIT is an insult or compliment:

in 2011 4 big sky teams went to the post season, a conference record. 2012 just 2. UNC to NCAA tourney, griz and weber to CBI and big sky 4th place 9-7 NAU to CIT - lol.

Also, in 2003 EWU had 18 wins and 5 big sky losses and was invited to the NIT. :shocking:

This from Roy Burton: "There are six rounds in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, which is bracketed regionally and played at on-campus sites. First-round CIT games will be played Tuesday through Thursday; the second round is Friday through Sunday, with the top four remaining seeds receiving byes to the quarterfinals March 20-21."

Anyone know if that's accurate? If it is that would mean potentially only four games instead of five.

Why wouldn't it be accurate? I'm sure it is..
Just wondering because I haven't seen this anywhere else, including on the CIT website.

Makes you also wonder if Weber & USU win can they even meet in a semifinal?

I have not done the math, but this could be a hold-over from last year when only 24 teams made the tournament, and the top 4 remaining seeds got a bye after the first round ( I think). With 32 teams, I don't know where the bye would fit? If you think in terms of 4 regions with 8 teams, it is like half the NCAA bracket, no byes there....

Whatever the structure, we'll roll with it and Weber should be high seed all the way through with our RPI and record. Win, and keep playing at home!! That is my hope!

I think you are right, with 32 teams byes would not work. How awesome would five more home games be?!

With Weber having the best record and the highest RPI, Weber SHOULD be the #1 seed. (If there are seeds).

We should not be forced to go on the road, but I wont be suprised if they throw us on the road in round 2, just as long as we dont have to play at Utah State (and you thought being snuffed by the NIT was an insult, this would be worse)

If Weber wins and sells some tickets, we will host round two. If we don't sell tickets, then we won't. $ talks as usual.

last yr there was 24 teams - so 4 seeds with byes
this year 32 teams, no byes for anyone, no "seeds" as we call it in FCS football.

Assuming this bracket is correct. If USU and WSU keep winning, we should meet in the semi finals. That would be awesome! We could kick their sorry Aggie butts TWICE in the same season.

Yahoo has us playing @ Toledo in round two, but I think they are going off the bracket that wikipedia has, but the CIT is not a bracket tournament, we will play someone from the west

I was talking to one of the ushers last night and he assured me that Weber should be hosting more games. He said that Weber wouldn't be able to host one game, due to a conflicting event (I know this is an abhoration and all, playing this late in the season, but still the Dee was built for Weber State basketball, it should take preference), but that all the other games should be fine. He said he'd see me this weekend. So...that too me is a sign that the Cats will be playing again. Also, the more the Cats win, the better the date is, the more likely the crowds will come.

Heard a rumor that if the Aggies win tonight, Weber will be playing in Logan this weekend. Don't know why but let's root for Bakersfield to eliminate even the possibility.
