I would assume its up to Mac whether or not he stays, he is a good coach and has done great things at the schools he has been at.

Utah was basically played in a high school before he got there. The place had wooden benches.

So, its up to him i assume of whether or not he will be back. Hopefully he can win the conference and demand more money for his salary which he deserves and demand more recruiting money which really hurts the program he is trying to build for us.

He is trying to compete with UM and MSU with the budget of I believe a quarter of the size or smaller.

I believe that it is up to Coach Mac as to whether he will be back or not. As far as budget goes, most of the money is appropriated by the State Legislature. The best way to increase the athletic budget for recruiting, coaches salaries, and etc is to join the Wildcat Club, go to games, get friends, neighbors, enemies, and etc to come to the games, buy season tickets, and volunteer to help whenever needed. We need to rally as a community and give Weber State the support and the fan base that these students, athletes, and administrators deserve.

He can stay at Weber for as long as he wants!

I couldn't agree with you more. Get a deal done now, even if it is a behind doors closed meeting. Don't give Mac any reason to leave. Show some love Jerry...

This isn't just on Jerry, it's also up to Jerry's boss Norm Tarbox. Even though it is school policy not to discuss contracts during the season hopefully Jerry and Norm have expressed to Mac and his staff that WSU does indeed plan on them being back. If they don't bring Mac back then attendance will drop off the map. Just show Mac and his boys some love and tell them they will be Wildcats for a long time.

Too many choices in the poll! I vote for all the yes choices!

Believe it or not, I have heard a parent complain about Mac as being too "Old School." :? :o

If "Old School" means the players go to study hall, go to class, have their grades checked by the coaches, work their a$$es off in practice, learn to know the difference between hurt and injury, respect authority, learn to understand the concept of "team" above "self," have to wear a collared shirt and pull their pants up above their a$$ cracks on road trips, beat MU and MSU convincingly in the same season, gain 240 yards in three quarters against the first team defense of the #13 ranked FBS team in the country, and furthermore that the program produces classy student-athlete leaders like Trevyn Smith who gave all the love to his hogs after his breakout game, produces world class athletes like Trevyn, Cam, the Beast, and on and on, not to mention professional players, and brings around the NFL scouts to practices, then I say, long live Old School!

KEEP MAC FOREVER AND LET'S GO BACK TO THE BLOODY STONE AGES! :D

Nope, surpisingly. And that's all I got to say about that :-)

Well said, Native. I do agree with your previous post. Also, my thoughts are that the coaching staff will be around. I have not heard any rumblings of people being dissatisfied with the coaching staff. Most of them are pretty exited about the direction the program is headed.

Thank you, smjcpa! ;)

I would be excited about the clean, positive, upbeat, fair-and-square, high quality aspects of Coach Mac's program even if our record were mediocre. It represents everything that is good and virtuous about the AMERICAN game of football. :!: :!: :!: :!:

The fact that the program is successful on the scoreboard so far this year is just the icing on the cake and provides the kids with a remarkable once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for accomplishment that only a tiny fraction of us ever get to experience. :D :D :D :D

I can't believe that you have heard complaints from a parent about Mac, Mac has always had a reputation for being a players coach. Mac will always give guys more than 1 chance to get through their problems. As far as coaches go, Mac does not have a reputation of being a real hard A$$.
Mac teaches players to respect themselves and others, and also teaches them many other lessons they can use further down the road of life.

I will have to ask some of the "powers that be" and then I will let all of you know what I find out. I may have to divulge some of the info in PM, but where it goes from there - - who knows. Also, the original source has to be protected.

I agree with your points about Mac. :!:

Please do not confuse the relatively mild and brief comment I heard about Mac being "Old School" with my long and involved soapbox rant on that subject in this thread. The rant and the soapbox are entirely my own. 8-)

How could any parent be against McBride?? He understands what college is all about: Education. He doesn't want his boys to come to school for 4 or 5 years and leave with nothing. The term "old school" in my opinion, is an honor. Old School, means a coach who cares about the player more than the game, and teaches him life lessons which can be used once the player is done. In this age of athletics, sometimes we forget about those thing that are really important: Education, Sportsmanship, and Honor. And replace it with only wanting to Win...

I have it on some good authority that we don't need to worry too much about Coach Mac. From everything that I have heard, he will be back along with the coaching staff. :D :P :)

Sounds good to me, take care of him like the Aggies did with Stew.
