Coach Rahe's Career at Weber State University

The last crompton ad tried to destroy Weber bball with farmer. This one might succeed with Duft. Terrible move

Coach Crompton is not some pantywaist. The guy knows how to run a program and is doing his best as the AD. With Coach Rahe announcing his retirement now, there isn't a whole lot that he could do. Duft had to be the next guy. It is mid-May. I just hope the contract is for a year with an option to extend. That Duft is really just an interim guy until he proves he can truly take over the reigns. Honestly, Eric Duft would not have been my next choice. I think he is a good guy with a lot of passion, but from what I have heard he isn't someone who truly inspires players. I really hope I'm wrong. He is the guy who was chosen. I hope he does well. Weber State Basketball is what it is because of the assistants who took over after a successful coach left. Johnson, Visscher, McCarthy, and Cravens all had been assistants for great Wildcat coaches and then ended up being, in some cases, exceptionally more successful in their own right. We can only hope that the tradition continues with Duft.

i remember people on here were really mad when rahe was hired. the good news for duft is he has many yrs of experience, probably 20 yrs+ and will get every opportunity to prove himself. we have only had 2 coaches since abegglan's final season in 1998-99. joe was on the hot seat then saved himself in 2003 going 16-0 and managed 3 more seasons. rahe had 16 yrs. unless it is known info we can probably just guess a 3 yr contract with lots of room for duft to prove himself to earn more and get an extension but dont expect a bovee 8 yr. we need that rule montana has where 3 yrs extension is the maximum the state allows. lillard seems happy about duft being hired, lets see what he can do. i say if he wins in provo in nov give him a 10 yr extension.

Having conversations with Bovee before, he never would have hired Duft as head coach because he knew his capabilities while Crompton and coach Duft are best friends. So to say that coach Duft was lucky Bovee left before coach Rahe retired is an understatement. Also saying that he will succeed because he has 20+ years experience is like saying that Biden will be the best president ever because he has 40+ years experience in politics. Why hasn’t he gotten a head job until now?

Absolutely the biggest tragedy to befall Wildcat Athletics in sometime. Not the retirement of Rahe but the hiring of Duft! I am not and was not a fan of Bovee, but at least he wouldn't have been this lazy.

Things must be slowwww on the Griz site.

Not very busy but even oldrunner making some nice posts about the recruits/transfers/other coaches within the Big Sky.

I just wandered over there to see if Randy Rahe had really retired and what fans from the one "power" BSC programs had to say about it.

Found out not many of them seem to have not noticed.

That was one of the best shooting displays I have witnessed. The really sad thing, on our side of the ball, was that nobody stepped up to knock him on his azz a couple of times. :wtf:

I was on trip from Missoula to Billings with 3 boys to watch State basketball tourney. Stopped in Bozeman for dinner and watch part of this game. Griz way down at half and we almost left to get on road for another 140 miles. But the comeback started and we ended up "turning" the entire place to start watching with us. A few Bobcat fans....in Bozeman even..... got pretty excited about Johnson's performance that night.
