Coach Taylor to Stanford

The threads on CardBoard and Twitter about which players of ours to poach are making me sick. It sounds like it might be easier for them to get graduated players with eligibility left (I.e. Marshel Martin) to a Stanford grad program, rather than undergrads like Skattebo, but man they really want Skat.

Does Stanford bend their admission standards for athletics like the UC's? I heard they don't, either way who cares. If Stanford's current roster is so weak that they are banking on raiding a championship caliber FCS programs' roster to be relevant next year then they have bigger problems on their hands in the short term. Taylor has excelled everywhere he has gone and I expect that to continue at Stanford.

Congrats to Coach Taylor and thank you for these past 3 championship seasons. I'm grateful for all the excitement and success he was able to bring to our once moribund program. He raised the bar to a new level and proved to all us Hornet alums and fans that it could actually be done. Hornet fans no longer have a reason to believe any excuses as to why we cannot field championship caliber teams from this point forward.

Thank you Coach Taylor, staff and players for giving us three incredible seasons! They certainly proved what people have been saying for many years, that Sac State is a sleeping giant. That giant has been awakened and the bar has been raised forever. It's amazing how quickly the public's perception of the program has changed, and how well the community responded when a good product is on the field.

I wish Coach Taylor the best of luck at Stanford except for when the Hornets visit in September! I think he is going to face many challenges due to Stanford's structure. Many think that Coach Shaw's resignation was over frustration realizing that he was at a competitive disadvantage due to Stanford's restrictive admission policy and the transfer portal. I heard that Stanford has lost 21 athletes in the portal and only gained 1.

Former Hornet Coach to OL Coach for TT….

"Taylor said he invited all of the existing Cardinal players to return to the program."

One of many contrasts to Colorado's Sanders. "… I want y’all to get ready to go ahead and jump in that portal and do whatever you’re gonna get because the more of you jump into (the portal), the more room you make because we bring kids that are smart, tough.”

Personally, I'd take Coach Taylor's style of building a culture and family; over Prime's scorched earth, you're lucky to have me approach…. but then I've never been a football player. It will be interesting to see how both of these programs evolve over the next few seasons.

This one sucks! Not only for the Hornet program as a whole, but he was going to help my son get ready for his Pro Day and whatever combines he may attend. (Gary Zauner's College Senior Specialist's Combine for sure). Their gain is definitely our loss.
