between Eck and Smith i feel Bovee will go with Smith, alumnus, various collegiate coaching stints, proven track record. also, i heard he's 'tough as nails' and the program needs that right now. too many guys getting a free ride and not putting out what they should, all the mystery injuries so they don't have to practice. i love Eck though, but for the program, i feel that it's going towards Smith..... just my 2 sense

We need spies in the airport to watch for either Eck or Smith getting on planes from Las Vegas or Arkansas to Utah :kisswink:
Pat Hill at Fresno is now available and he has a connection to Mac - could be a total surprise and Hill could get the nod (not saying it's gonna happen, but he is no longer the coach at Fresno).

My guess is that it will be John L. Smith - the guy has shown to be a winner at just about every level and will continue Mac's success. Just my 2 cents as well. :twocents:

What does that mean?

"Smith is a Weber St guy. Went hard after the job pulled in big names to call. Has amazing resume for Weber. Knows Utah"
 
i am excited for the new coach. look what he did at idaho. they werent the joke they are now before smith but no one has done squat since he left. and usu, two conf titles and a bowls in 3 yrs and none for 15 yrs til this year! i like our chances with him coming in to what is already a good program. he wont have to start from scratch. its a great situation to come in to for a coach.
 
Sweet, hopefully John will come in here and take Weber to an even higher level.

John L. has definitely taken some teams to the "next level." One of the biggest reasons Idaho left the Sky to go to FBS was because of Smith and the success he had there (moved up 2 years after he left). Smith also did some great things at Louisville. He was a big reason Louisville got into the Big East (moved up 3 years after he left). Though I'm not expecting Weebs to make any moves like that, Smith is a great hire and will have great success here at Weber State.
