coaching changes at UW and BSU

Fair enough. The fact is Boise is sort of stuck being barely more than a JC, and regardless of whether they win or not, conferences want to be relevant for more than just athletics.

JC? :ohno:

Academically, yes. BSU will never sniff the Pac-12.

Rivals has a thread with a poll on who should be the next BSU coach and Baldwin leads everybody. Also on the list is Craig Bohl, Nussmeier, Orgeron, and Wilcox.

I was surprised to read Peterson would have made $2,348,000. in 2014. That is on par with the Pullman pinhead. Pac 12 has huge money from Pac-12 TV which the Mountain West does not have. Obviously BSU was committed to keeping Peterson but it did not work out.
When we think Beau is not high profile enough don't forget Bobby Hauck moved up from Montana just a few years ago and it appears has turned the UNLV program around.

I wouldn't say Hauck has turned the UNLV program around. Although they surpassed expectations this year and are bowl eligible, you have to look at who they beat. Central Michigan, Western Illinois, New Mexico, Hawaii, UNR, Air Force, and San Diego State. They really benefited from a soft schedule. I think UNLV needs to schedule soft to build the program but with Northern Illinois, Michigan, UCLA, BYU, and Arizona on upcoming schedules, I'm not optimistic. It was the best year for UNLV since 2000, but I wouldn't say the program is turned around.

I really hope Beau stays around. If he has to leave, I'd love for it to be Boise State. I've always liked their program, and I would only become a bigger fan. Hopefully they are looking for a FBS coach and Beau stays put!

As a former BSU player and alum and knowing Coach Pete fairly well I would say that Coach B would make a great replacement for Coach P and from the time I have spent at EWU I have made many comparisons between the 2 but the only place I have heard that Coach B was being considered was up in Cheney. In Boise the rumors are they are looking at a return of Hawkins (not sure that would happen even though he is a great person) and either Wilcox at UW who Coach Pete just replaced with Coach Kwiatkowski (who I played with a BSU) and Coach Harsin who is the HC at Arkansas State and who I know is interested in the job.

IMO Coach B has proven himself and his staff worthy of stepping up into a better paying job for his future and family but I only hope he decides to stay for another year or so for my own selfish reasons. :twocents:

Football Scoop reports that Harsin is interviewing today.

No question that this job is THE job for coaches from the FCS.
Having it open is scarier than hell in terms of losing Beau.

But like I've said all along with Beau.

1) Chaves, open up your wallet
2) Beau will be busy until early January and most schools want to move fast
3) Beau and VA have a great relationship. Ala Saban and McCaron. It would take some kind of opportunity to make him want to leave before he sees just how far VA goes.

That said, I have no guesses as to who will be candidates.

Coaches leave for one reason and one reason only! :coffee:

If I was a betting person I would think the BSU job will be announced today after the Harsin interviews and it is possible that Wilcox leaves to be the DC again.

Harsin's Texas recruiting should be a BIG plus. Scoop says Koetter is interviewing too. He would be a poor choice IMO.

This should make EWU fans breathe a little easier. Long and Short list of BSU candidates does not include Coach B (But IMO should have even though I don't want that) :notworthy:

I was wrong on my prediction. Harsin has withdrawn and its down to Tedford of Cal and Koetter.

Still good news for EWU fans

Never understood what happened to Tedford at Cal. I know Sark pulled a couple of key asst's three years ago, but he lost that team before that. I guess they both have name and coaching cache, but don't care for either as the answer to Boise's continued growth. Come's down to assistants they hire.

Funny how all the media works:

Bryan Harsin is the new HC at BSU according to football scoop this morning. Apparently he was offered and accepted the job last night (12/10)

Wild ride. Harsin is the RIGHT choice. Guess BSU will pay out the ASU contract.
