Any guesses, rumors, or anything official add that here.

Like usual I know nothing but would guess Grable will be retained... anyone else?

Dieti was well spoken of on here is he a maybe?

Why does everyone think Grable is retained? My info is that he's really not much more than a screamer....
Any information you guys have would be of interest to me..thanks!

I doubt anybody gets retained, if they do it's for budget reasons. Where's our insiders at? I'd like to know about the players, who's coming or going.

I think Peterson is the most likely to stay because he is heading the recruiting right now. Lose him and we might lose a lot of recruits we're looking at. I liked his play calling this year. I would be fine with him staying.

I mentioned Grable because didn't he play at least a year with Collins? His freshman year was Collins' senior year maybe? But how good or bad he is I have no idea I'm just guessing.

I've spoke to several players who are still on the team right after Downing was fired and Jay promised each coach an interview with the next guy. I visited with a player last night and all coaches were given one minute interviews then fired except for Grable. As far as a staff rumor from the players are some coaches from alcorn are coming and hes bringing in some with no D1 experience. How does this make our program better? As for Peterson, no one has seen him in 3 weeks so our recruiting has gone nowhere.

1. I've said many times- Jay is an idiot!
2. Jay will be fired next..
3. UNC just lost alot of good coaches- Bedell, Deti and Peterson
Not to mention Kendrick.
4. Recruiting is lost for the year.
5. Good luck UNC with a new head coach that went 5 and 6 this last year.

A house cleaning of the staff is not necessarily a bad thing this team won 9 games in 5 years... :(

Oh and it took the last regime 4 seasons to get their 5th win so Collins is Vince effing Lombardi compared to that.

I find it funny to rip the guy for going 5 and 6 last season, if Downing went 5 and 6 this year he would have got a 3 year extension and we'd throw a ticker tape parade. 5 and 6 sounds pretty damn good after 9 wins in 5 years!

My thoughts exactly.

To respond to your points:

1. Jay may not be the best, but he brought in Boyle, Benson, Hill and he's made a great choice with Collins.
2. I'd be willing to bet against you there.
3. You mentioned 4 coaches, I'll address them all:
Bedell - Our O-line was crap this year. Yes, we had injuries and maybe he didn't have enough time to work with them, but I wasn't very impressed.
Deti - I've met him, several times, and he's a great guy, I really like him personally. That said, we gave up 400 yards of offense and 31 points per game last year. With the talent we had, that's unacceptable.
Peterson - I don't get what everyone was so enamored with, the guy didn't use our offensive talent well at all. From what I've seen, the offense Collins is bringing will utilize our players, especially Dylan Orms, much better than Peterson did.
Shaver - I bet Earnest is a better secondary coach than Kendick...no disrespect ment to Coach Shaver there, but Collins has coached defensive backs at Kansas and Central Florida; he knows what he's doing.
4. We'll be fine with recruiting, teams change coaches every year and survive.
5. When was the last time UNC won 5 games in a season? Oh yeah, 2003. I'll take my chances with a guy that took over a disaster of an Alcorn State program and brought them to respectability.

Thanks for posting John Eddy! You were a great Bear, I enjoyed watching you play.

It's clear that the toughest job may be to bring the team back together once all is said and done. Anytime a coach is changed I am sure there are always ruffled feathers and people who think they were passed over. It's got to be the nature of the beast.

From an outsiders perspective, the last few years have been so spectacularly bad that it's tough to give anyone on the former staff the benefit of the doubt, even if it is a bit unfair.

This is mainly for gobears2010

Former player here..................................

Bedell- ask any O-ineman- they learned more this past year than any.
Bedell played Div.1 and pro football. Best O-line coach this college could've ever gotten!

Peterson- no big loss. Everyone- players and coaches hated this guy. Worst hire in this colleges history!

Jay- most unloyal person at UNC. Total piece of crap! Nobody can trust this guy. He's out for #1 and that's it.
Want to know why UNC is struggling? It starts at the top!

Deti- you should have listened to us. Awesome guy and awesome coordinator. Bled for our program.
Put everything to our program that he had.
You cannot leave any defense on the field (forever) and expect it, the defense, to withstand.

Many players will leave now- with Deti and Bedell now gone!!!

This was suppose to make the program better????????
All of you will see- this time next year..

Enough said!

You're right, the problem at UNC did start at the top: with Scott Downing. He was the guy that won 9 games in 5 years and got canned. It's Jay's perogative to bring in someone from outside of Downing's staff and it's Coach Collins' perogative to bring in his own assistants that weren't part of a program that was 9-47 over 5 seasons.

This time next year I'm willing to bet we're talking about a team that was a whole lot better than 3-8 and it wouldn't surprise me if in two years we're talking playoffs.

With Deti and Bedell the Bears only win of many merit was vs Portland State. Beating Adams State doesn't
count and every FCS team beat Idaho State.

If it all starts at the top, then your new head coach needs his staff, not keep a staff that had no success.
Coach Collins will put more into this program than anyone has in a long time. You must let the head man have a staff he trusts or it won't work. Have some confidence in the guy to put together a good staff.

The last five years was a total failure. I'm ready for some new blue & gold blood to turn the program around.
I'll be surprised if the 2011 version of UNC football is as bad as the 2010 version.

Go Bears!

If a couple more scholarships get freed up that's not the end of the world either.

The guys that can't deal with the change and walk... well, guess what life is like?

It's always funny, the ones that do walk, or transfer, or whatever we never hear about again.

I can't think of one example where someone left and ended up in a better situation in a better program.

It sort makes sense that the ones that can't deal and leave you're probably better off without.

I don't think too many players are going to leave because Deti and Bedell are gone. They had to see it coming because like I said with Downing, you go 9-47 you don't deserve to keep your job. That goes for the coaching staff as well. Bedell seemed like a good hire, I agree, but I doubt he would stuck around for long. I still can't get around the hype of Deti, the D had been up and down all year. There were some time where they might have been called upon too much, but there times they looked way out matched.

This is a business, coaches come and go. I think the players have to and do understand that, naturally though, you will see some players leave. That's too be expected. Also I think its a pretty dumb reason to bounce because your favorite coach got fired.

as some of you may know, im going (to try) walkon to the Bears this spring. I ran into a person who works in the strength program with UNC. He told me Coach Collins cleared house with the exception of Grable and Bigelow. He said Grable is getting moved to Receivers coach though. Just what I have heard. Have only really been in Greeley since last Thursday.

This altitude is no joke. Out running 300yd shuttles today, I felt like Albert Haynesworth must of felt. I was dead.
