Maybe Best is going to do Special Teams and OC jobs to save on money?
Obzerver said:I gotta believe they are courting several candidates and perhaps one or two or enen THE one has obligations before an official announcement is made. EWU has one of most most prolific offenses in the nation and can score on anyone. Time has been the test and EWU has been doing it a looong time. So can't bring in just anyone to take the reins thus I believe the hire is close and will be wise choice. This is a very special program with a special offense and a great opportunity for the right person.

Obzerver said:In the listing of coaches you listed Lucky, when Baldwin was coach, had Bets listed as..Running Game Coordinator/Offensive Line/Academic Coordinator. Wasn't Best also offensive coordinator? Course think we all knew Baldwin was calling all the plays, it was just a way to get Best a bump in pay.
Wiki has Best as oc in this article. Also notice no special teams coach but when those were listed maybe that guy was missing to like Baldwin?

*No way Best takes on oc again...no way right? right??
Gonna start drinking heavily.
Prior to his arrival at Cal, Edwards spent three seasons (2014-16) as the wide receivers coach at his alma mater Eastern Washington also working under current Cal offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and then Eagles’ head coach Beau Baldwin.
Oregon: Sources tell FootballScoop Zach Tinker is set to join Dan Lanning's staff in a special teams quality control role. Tinker currently serves as offensive coordinator / quarterbacks / servant leadership coordinator at Central Washington.
Dixie State (FCS): Craig Stutzmann has been named offensive coordinator at Dixie State. Stutzmann spent the past two seasons at Washington State as co-OC / quarterbacks.

Last season his offense avg. 217 on the ground and 195 through the air. 2389 rushing on the season and 2152 through the air..... Maybe you all will have some insights on this.....
Jim Chapin, who has coaching experience at both the NCAA DII and FCS levels, is in his fourth season as the Offensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach for the University of Sioux Falls Football Team. Chapin was promoted to OC/Associate Head Coach this spring (2020).
Chapin has coordinated one of the top offenses in the NSIC and NCAA DII and helped the Cougars earn playoff berths twice in three seasons while extending their consecutive season winning streak to 26 years, which ranks fourth across all NCAA levels.
Under Chapin's direction, USF ranked second in the NSIC (32nd in NCAA DII) in scoring with 35.25 points per game in 2019 and ranked fifth in the league in 2018 with 33.8 per game. USF ranked third in the NSIC (35th nationally) in total offense with 427.6 yards per game in 2019 and USF was first in the NSIC (19th nationally) with 466.0 yards per game. USF, which led the NSIC with 273.7 rushing yards per game in 2018 (3,011 yards) and ranked second in 2019 with 216.2 yards, has recorded over 5,000 yards in total offense in back-to-back seasons and had 1,000 yard rushers (Gabe Watson, 2018; Thuro Reisdorfer, 2019) in back-to-back seasons.
During his tenure, Chapin has coached All-Americans Gabriel Watson, who was a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, and Trey Pipkins, who was USF's first ever NFL Combine invite and drafted in the third round by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018. Watson was also the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 and preseason NSIC Player of the Year in 2019. In addition, Chapin has coached Honorable Mention All-American Adam Sheffield, 18 All-NSIC performers, four All-Region performers as well as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Nick Stanke (2017) and Nick Zimmerman (2019).
Chapin, originally of Troy, Mich., joined the USF football staff in 2017 after coaching the previous two seasons with UC-Davis, where he was running backs coach for the FCS program in the Big Sky Conference.
A 2009 graduate of Michigan, also spent three seasons at DII Indiana University (Pa.), a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Prior to his tenure with the Bulldogs, Chapin had a one year stint in 2009 as the running backs coach at Southern Tech Prep Academy in Charlotte, N.C. In addition to his collegiate and prep coaching experience, Chapin also coached at the high school level from 2007-2008 at Dexter High School in Dexter, Mich.
EWU98 said:On paper I LOVE this hire....so we will see though. Curious though if this is and will be a shift to more of a run game then the high powered...score more then us offense then we are used to seeing. Personally I hope it is more of a smash mouth type of game with less passing. I feel like part of our defensive issues have been that they are on the field way too long ...yes I know then get them off the field in 3 but we know that's easier said then done.

No love loss for Shoemaker but too many unanswered questions to hold any animus. Best wishes to Shoemaker and his family. Not sure Hawaii is "landing on your feet".
