Caught the show on-demand this morning from Stretch Internet. Interesting interview with Jeff Tingey, and it would be great if we knew about it further in advance so we might submit questions. Nice interview, nonetheless.
I enjoyed the topic of facilities. Has Jeff and the department ever considered purchasing portable field lights? Not sure what the cost would be, but it would seem like a bargain for the short term. They could be used at Davis for soccer games, then moved up to Bartz field for softball, then moved to the practice field for events there.
It was also interesting to learn that the reserve ISU athletics currently has is more than likely set to establish a new women's sport to satisfy Title IX. I certainly hope ISU doesn't pick a sport like skiing, such as Jeff mentioned. We don't need another sport which is dependent on the weather. I love Pebble Creek, but it has had its share of late openings and early closings. Nobody in the west participates in bowling. Same can be said for rifle. If I had to choose, I would pick between swimming and gymnastics. Both have schools who are nearby who participate, and both provide some potential to attract paying spectators, especially gymnastics. Jeff said they'd need to update the pool at Reed, which would cost money, but would the (indoor) pool at Lava be able to host events?
