You have got to be freaking kidding me! How is Portland St still ranked so high? They are third in the conference right now and who do they even have wins over?

We are in first at 8-1, and 5-0 on the road, and all we get is 35 votes?

Just like during football season, Weber is just getting NO LOVE.

Unfortunately in pretty much all college sports it's about reputation from the previous few years. In 2003 Weber had and gained more of a reputation, but that was six years ago and they have been to the tourney once since then (when the conference was way down, BTW).

We will get love when we win on a constant basis. two years good, two years at .500, and one year great won't get any love on a local or national level.

On another note, this is also a main reason I feel that Weber gets the support from the community that it gets. If they were dominant in football or basketball (or both please) for something like three to five years, they would form a more core fan base around town and the state.

They beat #7 Gonzaga...only reason they are even in the Top 25 at this point. PSU was up to #7 last week but dropped to #13.

After this week PSU has some tough games, at ISU, at WSU, then a home game against Boise State.

PSU was looking really good til this past week really.

to get consistently large crowds the teams need to be consistent... From 1997-2004 the crowds averaged 5,500 per home basketball game, two seasons of sub-par teams and the fans are gone... Granted, Cravens ball was ridiculous and absolutely boring, but losing will also hurt. Two championships in three years will really help get the fans back into the seats. What really angers me is the lack of student participation.

Does anyone know if this has ever happened before?

Collegeinsider's poll is only 10 years old...the last 10 years have been some of the well how can we put it nicely...some of the not as great years of Big Sky basketball. Not really a dis, just the 70's and 80's were really really good!!

One good reason though this might be the first time ever for this to happen is the fact that until about 4-5 years ago the poll was only a top 10 not 25.

When WSU was in the top 5 in '03 there was only a top 10.

Looks like the Big Sky has the answer:

WILDCATS CRACK TOP 25: Weber State is ranked 25th in this week’s Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major poll, marking the first time the Wildcats have been ranked this season. Portland State is ranked 13th in the poll this week. This is the first time since the 2005-06 season that two Big Sky teams have been ranked in the poll at the same time. That season, Montana and Northern Arizona were both ranked.

wasn't that one of Weber's worst seasons ever? No wonder Wildcat fans can't remember... At least we had a coach that could dance on the court like no one else, and was known to crowd serf through the student section on occasion.
