Did any UNC supporters make the trip to the springs? Downing was there, Hawkins, Calhoun, etc. were all there. Here's a quote from Downing in the Ft.Collins paper (The real one, not the Greeley...err...Ft.Collins Tribune).

We've been in transition," Downing said. "I look for us to make some big strides this year. I look for our level of play to be improved, and I think we saw that over the last half of last year. We've had some good recruiting classes, so we'll see how that all figures in."

I know he's trying to build on positive things from last year and we all saw the pups make some strids after MSU. How it carries over, who knows? Enough for 5-6 wins I say and Downing stays. Ursa, UNCfootballrules and Bears2003 will turn in their alumni cards and become Montana fans.

Strides forward would be 3 wins in my opinion. They have no cupcakes on their schedule and they were soooooooo bad you can't expect miracles. Also to go from about the worst team in FCS to just another bad team would be a stride forward. The goal is to get out of the laughing stock category and just up to generically bad.

A nice write up in the Rocky today about local progams and what they're doing this summer. It's a short update, but it's something the Tribune didn't even do. Downing says about 70% of the team has stayed and worked out over the summer. That's great because it's more then we ever had, but it needs to be 100% of the players. In the words of the poet/philosopher Dan Hawkings, "This is Division 1 Football!"

Personally I would become a Sac State fan. I've grown so custom to losing that I couldn't take that kind of shock to the system in one year. Maybe I can work my way up to Montana in three years. :D :D

Heck uncfootballrules, it would be wrong of us to support another Bigsky team. Let's just head over to FC. We can drink reasonably priced beers at CSU games until Downing pulls a couple of wins out. People would see us in our UNC regalia and say, " Hey...aren't you guy's in the wrong place?" And we would just reply that we were slumming.

Hell no, you won't be able to jump back on the bandwagon. Whenever we start winning, either this year or next, you and uncfootballrules shouldn't be allowed to get back on.

Actually those of us who care enough to complain are the fist ones allowed back on.
