Colorado is coachless

They fired Embree. Wonder if they're considering the FCS coach who beat them and Oregon St. After all, Sperbeck has proven that he can win in the PAC 12. LOL. I know they're not. But it would be funny if Sperbeck did cross the mind of AD Bohn.

Apparently buff fans haven't forgot about Sac St. Check out one of the replies to the tweet of a Colorado sportscaster.

I'm not saying that this does happen, although there's something to the expression "Strike while the iron is hot."

But if it does, who is likely to come in? A promotion from the staff that Sperbeck doesn't take with him? An old hand, someone who knows the lay of the land here? A big name to attract a lot of attention?

We could go in a lot of directions. You guys already know who's on MY list, but there's no indication that they'd even be interested, much less Wanless being interested in THEM. I'm more interested in YOUR thoughts here. Maybe ask SD to take the job? LOL.

Right don't think it'll happen, but anyting is possible. Here's my wish list for the fun of it.

From the current staff I like our OC.
-Peterson has HC written all over him.

The DII coaches in Colorado: Bob Stitt (Colorado School of Mines) orJohn Wristen (CSU-Pueblo).
-Bob Stitt has been hot since WVU's Holmgren mentioned his name after the Orange Bowl win. Orediggers are a consistent DII power.
-John Wristen started a program from scratch and has made it a consistent DII winner.

From FBS level, SJSU's or Nev's OC.
-Brian Lingred is definitely going places. He did a good job at NAU. Look what he's done at SJSU in his first season.
-Nick Rolovich has proven himself as an OC at both Nevada and Hawai'i. He's a local product too.

Ex-headcoaches:
-John Tisdale (if he decides to come out of retirement)
-Paul Wulff
-Dan Hawkins

If USC fires him, Lane Kiffin.

From this board:

I don't know who's on your list. Who are they?

My agent has not been contacted about any possible coaching offers. I'll keep you all posted. ;)

At the risk of p!$$ing off SD, SHA, and GCM, I'll elucidate for LA.

My HC list includes John Volek (former Sac HC), Angus McClure (UCLA DL/Recruiting Coordinator), Jon Osterhout (ARC OL Coach), and Mike Canales (OC at North Texas).

I meant to add Angus to my list too.
Mike Canales? I do think he'll become an HC someday. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to hear him named HC at UTEP. But Sac St??? What's the connection? Is there one? Or just an OC you like?

He was my position coach at UOP back in '95. Incidentally, he was interim HC at North Texas after they fired the quarterback's dad (man, dealing with the son after Dad was canned had to be a mess) and before they hired the current HC. Did a pretty good job, too.

I was thinking he might go for the UTEP job, too. Not thrilled with his being stuck in the Sun Belt, but he'd make a GREAT Hornet head man.

Definitely would not mind seing Canales as Sac St's HC someday.

Definately wouldnt mind seeing Sperbeck canned someday.

What is it now seven years and we havent cracked the playoffs? What are we satisfied with? :ohno:

Methinks Wanless is fat and happy with .500 teams until he retires.

Sperbeck isn't going anywhere, unless he is under .500 next year and the year after when I believe his contract is up?

As I think someone else mentioned, GCM, I don't think we can afford to pay TWO HC contracts. Therefore, barring a major ethical screwup (like Bobby Petrino or Mike Price) or an abuse scandal (like Woody Hayes or Bobby Knight), Coach Sperbeck is here AT LEAST until the end of his contract.

That might be a blessing in disguise. Teams that switch coaches all the time NEVER get it right. It takes time. And we're CERTAINLY better off than we were under Mooshagian, who just might be the worst HC in Hornets history (OG might have an opinion on that).
