Nice job staff for getting this OG from Columbine. He had an offer from E.Washington and wanted to stay here an play. He's got a two star rating from scout.com

I'm nervous about recruiting this year so it will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully the staff can encourage kids to come here with the opportunity to play early and they aren't scared away by 3-31.

Beardown,I am not dogging you, but please get rid of the subscription to scout.com, Smith & Street, ESPN Magazine, Hustler, Playboy, or any other organization that makes football picks.
So far, their predictions have sucked the big choad. I'd rather Scott "I'm a hell of a lot luckier than Mike Shanahan" Downing, put his efforts on winning NEXT year, than how the future coach(yet to be named) of the Mighty Bears will fare with his (Downing's) picks this spring.
The NCAA should allow a "Red Shirt" year for a coach, where, when he knows he's going to get canned, can bypass recruiting, and the following new hire can automatically recruit new players, plus the number forfitted by the previous coach.
Yeah...I'm a visionary.

Just chill. I like a lot of the YOUNG players Downing has brought in and I think they're going to develop nicely. This is just another example of the type of player Scott can bring in. He comes from a great high school program too.

Looks like we've offered this QB from AZ. He's a two star rank from scout. He will take his visit on the 16th of this month.

Anyone know anything about a running back from Pomona High School - Donovan Bowens? According to Rivals, he held an offer from UNC but decided to give a verbal to another school. Just curious who that school is and what the circumstances were surrounding his choice? I don't have access to the story on Rivals. Thanks

I found the answer to my own question on Scout.com. He committed to South Dakota along with another running back from his conference Tommy Flanagan from Bear Creek. Would have been nice to have a 6'1" back with speed. I guess Jose Astorga from Douglas County is still considering UNC.

Yeah it's going to be nearly impossible for this staff to get anybody that has other FCS offers even if it's from a school just starting the move up like South Dakota. Going 3-31 will do that everytime. :(

A quaterback for Southern California, Cameron Deen, has commited to UNC.

Deen was asked to walk on at USC and could have grey-shirted at Fresno State. Looks like nice pick up for us. We've got good young qb's already and Deen will only add to that.

I am kind of excited for next season's football team. Not for a double increase 2 wins, but maybe a 500% increase with 5 wins (I have no idea if 5 wins is a 500% increase).

Call me silly, but it just may happen.

Just read on Scout.com that Josh Morton a RB from Poudre HS committed to Northern Colorado. Anybody know anything about him...his running style etc.?

He was either the top rusher or one of the top rushers in 5A, I watched him play a couple times he's decent, he's pretty much all poudre had and they made it 5A semis I think.

Ya he's definitely a solid pick up for UNC, as we need some depth at running back position. A little bit more info on Morton, he was selected on the all-Colorado team and first team all-state in 5A.

The list is up, who knows if the guys are good or not but there is hope of course.

A few observations, interesting we went out of state so much, I wonder if maybe kids outside Colorado are easier to recruit because they probably haven't paid much attention to how bad we've been the last few years, local kids are probably more conscious of that and blew us off.

Also, we only signed 10 that seems low... did nobody from last year's team other than the Seniors leave? It seems like we would should more than 10 scholarships to give which makes me nervous thinking what if we cut back on scholarships? With this program you never know, they very well could have and nobody would ever know, it's not like they would say anything and the Tribune is of course asleep at the wheel.

Oh well, we'll see, hopefully these kids will fit into the plans of whoever is the coach in 2010.
