Committee Rankings?

I just saw a post by the NCAA that said the FCS Committee will be releasing a weekly top 10 ranking starting on Nov. 3. Is this new? I don't remember it from years previous. Certainly will take some of the drama out of selection sunday.

People are going to be pissed when EWU and NDSU are 1 & 2 ...simply based off strength of schedule and record...there is no one even close to us.

That would be very very interesting. Don't know if I like the idea or not.

To the extent that it might take some of the ambiguity out of the selection process, I think I like it.

Why would anyone be upset? It's insight into how the playoffs are going to play out...in general more information is better.

Yeah, after mulling it over, it seems like a pretty good idea. I just wasn't looking forward to hearing people whine for extra weeks.

These rankings won't matter until the season is over and this team has taken care of business. The Eags win out and there will be a top 4 seed waiting right? Guess it could be higher. First things first. :)

As I look at the wins by SHSO and Jack St I do not see why they are ranked so high. The teams they have beaten in many cases have bad records.

Granted, but even at the end of the season this will mean more than the arbitrary rankings that the various polls do.

Am digging it. Super important that we run the table and get two potential playoff home games because I just booked travel to be there for any game on the 3rd and 10th... GEEKED to the max. :D

Which polls do they use to determine who gets selected? Coaches? Media?

Committee members in multiple interviews over the years have implied that they really don't use any of the polls. They each have their own polls, select the seeds first, then the at-larges - both by comparing resumes, then create the brackets.

Things like past performance and conference affiliation are ignored.

Regionalization (which is being minimized this year) is only used after all of the seeds and at-larges have been selected.

I think it's really cool they are coming out with their cumulative poll early. :thumb:

Tune into ESPNU today at 4pm ET to see the Committee's initial top 10 teams as part of the CFB Daily show.

Committee has us at the 3 seed currently, with Sam Houston #2 and JSU #1....looks like they really looked at a difficult strength of schedule...

NDSU is 4th, JMU 5th
