Comparing Sears' first 7 games vs Hill's first 7

That is interesting and not exactly what I expected, I didn't expect the statistical comparison to be quite so similar. What's more interesting is that Sears got that first win on game 8 just like Hill is going to :nod: (believe it). One thing I would love to see in the comparison is key injuries, I'm betting Sears didn't have quite as much to deal with there. Then again, that might not be too dissimilar either.

I get that this is a first year comparison, but I would like to see the same statistical comparisons between 2014 and 2013 because that's where it seems Hill is already making a huge positive impact. The stats don't matter that much when you can compare actually watching and enjoying a competitive and entertaining Hill-coached team vs wanting to leave or turn off a Sears-coached team by halftime.

Just looking at average point spread alone:
2014: -13.3
2013: -35.9
2012: -18.6
...and 2013 => 2014 feels like it!

So, is it accurate to say Sears' result got considerably worse after his first recruiting class?

Cool story. I like the comparison. Biggest difference, Sears had a lot more player wise/talent than Hill did. Sears -granted John L. had done a pretty good job of cutting, scaring, and driving away a number of Mac's players- had a team that was primed to make a push for the playoffs instead of Hill having a team that was coming off of a 2-10 campaign and had been pistol whipped 8 out of the 10 losses. The numbers are only getting better from one week to the next. If you want to see why, just take a cursory glance at MSU's season scores. UND held the Bobs under 30 but other than that the Bobs have been able to dominate defenses. Weber, granted gave up a ton of yards, but was able to keep the Bobs in check. Also, if it wasn't for a bunch of BONE-HEADED plays (three TO's included) Weber probably should have scored another 10 points. Clark had a wide open Kehano he was throwing to when he lost the ball. And we know about Billy's poor pass in the redzone. He does that a lot. 2 issues I have with Billy, A. he throws picks in the red zone at a really high rate and B. he holds onto the ball too long. He needs to do a better job of seeing the field.
