Okay, the Lindenwood debacle is over with, done, in the past. Time to get ready for the game Saturday in Fort Collins. We all know the lambs will be looking forward to CU this week like we were looking forward to them last week. I'm just hoping we can take advantage of that and be in the game at halftime, and if we are, who knows what happens in the second half.

GO BEARS!

Not sure what to think about this game. Before Lindenwood I was really excited, but now I'm not too happy.

Here's an article from the Ft. Collins Coloradoan about the game.

I feel like Beardown also. I am in limbo as to who, what & where this team is headed !! The game is an upset waiting to happen if the Bears want it !! Nice writeup in the Coloradoan. Go Bears!!

It is interesting reading the statements by players, coaches, and bloggers.
May I suggest that the significant words spoken by all parties involved center around the following perception:
It's not WHO we play.......it's HOW we play!
In fact that is all that we can control......HOW we play
Go get em BEARS!!!!!!!

Like the article said, there are examples all over the place about the unexpected win by a smaller school over a school which was expected to dominate.

Appalachian State over then-No. 5 Michigan in the 2007 season-opener. James Madison over then-No. 13 Virginia Tech last year. Sacramento State over Oregon State this past weekend.

These are the underdog dramas that make college football so interesting. If UNC pulled off an upset, oh how swell that would be.

Quentin "Quick" Hildreth led the Bears with 54 yards rushing and one touchdown in his first game for Northern Colorado.

Those upsets aren't even close to the same as if UNC pulled off the upset vs CSU.

James Madison and Appalachian State are powerhouses. Sure they're at a lower level, but at least they're a good team that knows how to win.

UNC? Ya not even close to ASU or JMU

And CSU isn't even close to Michigan or Virginia Tech. What's your point?

Obviously not, but I didn't see James Madison or ASU losing to Lindenwood (lol) either.

What I'm saying is, an FCS powerhouse can beat a FBS powerhouse, so why can't a lousy FCS team beat a lousy FBS team?

That's really depends on if you actually think CSU will be bad this year. Should easily be a bowl team. Which sorry, but we're definitely improved and using last year as a measuring stick is pretty stupid IMO.

Not a bad game, but I was hoping to play better in the first half. We outplayed them for most of the 2nd half. Quintan Hildreth is a good running back and Baca played pretty well. Receivers need to hang on to the ball!

The first quarter was dire. Really looking forward to Big Sky play but seeing some of the other conference teams do well makes me wonder if we will get to the 3 of 4 win mark this season.

I feel better after this week than last week... I thought we played hard at least, less soft than in the past but still lacking talent all over the place. The QB situation is a mess, I see now why they went with Lobato truth be told none of them are any good but I'd go with Baca next week I think he's shown the most... which isn't much but he seems more decisive than the others, has a lot more zip than Orms, and seemed less confused out there. :twocents:

The other positive I thought our uniforms looked pretty good in HD. I see we added the names to the back of the jerseys which is a nice change away from the Downing era.

Question: Down 28-0 at halftime, how many points would a Downing team have rolled over and gotten crushed by?

Maybe, but one thing about the Downing era that will bother me for a while was how close they would come to winning and someone always blow it, remember the hail mary's, the stupid fake extra points, the fumbles on the goal line, etc.? Unfortunatly last week was an example of that, having the game won if you can only make a stop on third and what, 15? and you can't do it. The funny thing is when Lindenwood was driving I kept thinking, oh shit this will come down to a hail mary and they'll hit it... we blew it but at least not like that I guess. :coffee:

I agree. I think what happen in the second half gave this team a lot of confidence. I also think Baca should get the nod next week. I thought he looked pretty good out there, he would've probably had an even better day if it wasn't for some dropped balls. But why not give the kid a shot? He looks good in the pocket. He's more accurate than Lobato, and better arm than Orms.

Good second half for the Bears. I was at the game and CSU fans are really tame. I was expecting fans to talk crap but it never really happened. Lets get the win over Idaho State!

Yep there were some encouraging things happening. After watching our first two games I can't help but think this team is still in a learning mode. There still seems to be some hesitancy going on. And maybe some of that stems from not having a true leader on offense yet ! Not to take anything away from Labato or Orms but after seeing spring ball and some fall practices and the CSU game, I think Baca is the QB to run with. Outside of the nitwit fan (brah) posting on our board, Csu fans were great. There really are a lot of friends between Greeley and Ft. collins !
