So glad I missed the game. Went to REI in DC then to the DC United soccer game. Way more fun than watching the UNC football program continue this longest implosion in history. Watching the women's programs compete at a high level, as well as our men's basketball team, there is ZERO excuse for this.

It's amazing. I follow several UNC accounts on twitter and the football one is so pathetic. Following the loss: "The Bears battled until the end and never gave up."
Any other football program and there would be several replies ripping into the program and/or coaching staff. This one only had one reply from the UNC Track & Field twitter account "Great battle Bears!"
Nobody gives a crap anymore. It's just so sad.

I have stepped way back... for my sanity.
What's that quote??... the definition of insanity is to continue to fo the same thing and expect different results.
We are certifiable!

I was tempted to lock the entire football section in protest until they fire Collins but decided to just relegate football to the bottom of the sports table. Really, looking at all of our other Division 1 teams, they are all either very competitive or respectable. Our women's soccer and basketball teams always battle and can hang with almost anyone. Or men's basketball team is certainly competitive. You would think that football, given the number of quality high school programs in Colorado, could find a way to at least be middle of the pack in the Big Sky.

I just got off a plane, looked at the score and laughed. Collins needs to be left in Portland, but instead will get an article in the Trib about how no one saw it coming or Collins saying he's not a quitter.

My current mood is just disappointed. I'm not pissed off, not sad, not angry, just disappointed. If you listen to Collins's post-game interviews and quotes from the paper, he just seems lost. He doesn't know how to fix the problem. If he doesn't recognize the fact that he needs to recruit better players, that's his own damn fault. 90% of college football is recruiting. We don't have the horses. It's not a knock on the current guys, and they're playing really hard, but they're not FCS talent. Just look at our tiny DB's out there attempting to cover and tackle D1 receivers. They're pinballs bouncing off of them. We have many 2-3 FCS players, the rest are D2 guys at best.

"If I knew how to fix this, it’d already be fixed,” Collins said. “We have four more (games) and we have to try and get it fixed. We made too many mistakes in the first half of this game."

LOL

We are all looking for a way that could fix this. As readers of this board, our only way to fix things is to show our displeasure on how things are being run and hope that those in the position to change things do the right thing and try to fix this mess. It is not good for the school that we all love that has to be in this embarrassing position in the football world. Maybe the team has good GPA's, but all college students are expected to have good GPA's or they wouldn't be in college. No one really cares about that. What alumni and sports fans want to see in the sports column is a win loss record that is not embarrassing. Even the students that are sport fans must also feel a sense of embarrassment when they say they go to UNC. It overshadows the great accomplishments of the other sports teams that are doing well.
One of the first things I would recommend is to stop the stupid early morning practices.
(see the article about the effects of early practice) https://theithacan.org/sports/early-morning-practices-can-impact-sleep-and-academics/

University of Nebraska also uses early morning practices and is 0-6 this year. (Just saying)

I would also recommend giving the team a day of rest on the day after games to regroup, unwind and have more straight days of practice to get ready for the next game.

Lets hope it does get fixed.

I don't think UNC has enough talent in certain areas. Especially on the O-line, why this have never been addressed, I don't know. One thing I noticed at the UC Davis game was how much bigger and faster UC Davis's offense was compared to UNC's defense. But the other thing is, is this team is very undisciplined. Bad tackling, playing out of position, bad turnovers and committing dumb penalties at critical times. Which is a reflection of bad coaching.

Also this team isn't playing with a whole lot heart or character. Perfect example would be yesterday's opening drive. Drive the ball down, throw a pick, and just fold after that. Also a direct reflection of the coach staff.

What a win, I really think Coach Collins is pulling these players together and moving in the right direction. That's what I probably said 4 years ago. In honesty, I am happy for the players to get a win but really, any victory now is like putting makeup on a pig. I really don't care.

So Troy tweeted last night:
"Love you," a trio of players said to coach Collins as they exited the post game press conference. Collins replied, "Love you guys, too"
Aaron Rath replied: "So much for losing the locket room?!?!"
Try replied: "Ha the same thought reading it."

I replied to Troy's original tweet: "Hopefully it was a "good bye" love you. Enough is enough."

Troy replied: "No, it wasn't. And, as I've noted numerous times, it won't happen in season."

This entire string is an
So the 3 players that the coach hand picked to be on a podium after the game love the coach. Big shock. What about the 12 that got suspended? This is a joke and I am so tired of everyone around the team playing Pravda.
