CWU Moving Up?

So with Dixie State on the move up what is keeping Central from doing the same and impacting our school?

They just renovated their field/stadium as well.

Looking at their attendance it isn't that bad as they had games of 6500, 5800, 4900, 4600, and 2100 (was before school started).

I really think it is a real possibility they move up or on the flip side what if they go the way of Western and drop football.

What do you all think is the most likely scenario for them?

I'd love to see them move up and have a true rivalry with us. I know some people would be concerned about the impact on our in state recruiting, but I think we'd win 95% of those battles (at least for the foreseeable future). EKGs are coming to Eastern no matter what.

They are definitely moving up. I think they are aiming for 2020 or 2021. They had a semi-announcement about a year ago, but I can't find the twitter post.

I think it’s a win-win for both schools, honestly. An in state rival would be nice. If it were to happen I wonder what this game would be called “Mini Apple Cup”. Having CWU, to the list of rivalries - Montana, Idaho, Montana State, Portland State is a positive direction for EWU. Just wish they would divide the big sky to north and south divisions.

If CWU is thinking about moving up to D1 and FCS football they must have done their homework on cost of moving to D1 athletics and conference affiliation. Wonder if they have been in talks with the BSC to see if that was feasible. Looks to me a 5 million dollar cost differential between a D2 with football and D1 with FCS football...lotta money!

I'd be fine dropping PSU and replacing with CWU. At the very least we'll probably end the season with fewer injuries heading into the playoffs...

Washington is also the leading hops producing state in the country. Maybe we could have The Hops Bushel.

Targeting their athletics program to Division I FCS as opposed to FBS smh. The Big Sky should mandate at least 10k seat stadium requirement for entry. Move over SUU & UNC, we’ve got a new “worst/smallest stadium” in the conference.

Be careful what you wish for. Do you know how many permanent seats Roos has?

They just spent 10.9 million in rennovations. They even separated the track and football field. Can we say the same?

I would give almost anything to move our track to another location. Central has got it figured out.

For new members, dumbass! Go take a look at that “renovation & expansion” thread, obviously EASTERN WASHINGTON FANS aren’t satisfied with their current stadium either, smart mouth! Sit back & let the expert field this one.

$10.9 million on lights, turf etc huh? You know who still has a better stadium too right? Trak or no track, Roos Field is the superior facility, dumb dumb! That CWU stadium is D2 all day, and it would be a huge mistake to allow that ~4K seat craptastic stadium into a division 1 conference.

“Central has got it figured out.” Really? With an asymmetrical football stadium, with only one grandstand, no end zone seating, no real video board, soccer lines & less than $5k in capacity? No thanks! :coffee:

Cool it blowhard. You can have your opinions, but calling people dumbasses is uncalled for and weakens your argument.

I noticed you sidestepped my response to you dickriding CWU’s basic, DII stadium upgrade.

I take the success/future of Eastern Washington Football extremely seriously... unlike some. :coffee:

Wow, seriously? Get over yourself.

The university at CWU backed their expansion but they still run like a D3. Only a guess but they aren’t positioning to move up but rather stoke enrollment.

Nothing against CWU, but I’d rather they not move to the FCS/Big Sky. I’d like us to keep our comparative advantages in recruiting without watering down our base.
