Darnell="yawn-ell"

I think we need to WAKE this offense up!! New blood, youngblood, un-tested blood! Anybody have an opinion? This blogsite, or whatever you call it, is in dire need of some smack talk! I check it all the time...not much new. Perhaps some grass roots ramblings will charge something up.
My personal opinion: I like Downing. It's hard to make chicken soup out of chicken$@#&!! I think he has recruited some good talent but you can't have an ignoramous calling all the O shots. It's nothing personal but I think Darnell is past his prime.
Anybody have a thought on that??

It doesn't matter who your offensive coordinator is if you don't have a QB who can execute the plays. We haven't had one for a while. This year I am confident either Waggener or Orms will get it done.

Darnell is 800% better than Chad Brown or whoever that joker was they had here in '06.

This offense needs to be boring, they need to play ball control, they need to decrease turn overs. The last thing they need to do is think they have skill and try to be too creative.

If they came out this year in a full house T I think that would be perfect. Instead they seem to like to run the spread like they are Florida which only results in interceptions.

Have to agree with Blofeld on this one. A simple offense with a focus on ball control is the best thing for the Bears right now. Slow the pace of the game down so that our young guys dont get burned.

Darnell hasn't set any records here that is for sure. The problem is we were spoiled with an offensive genius for 20 years or so with Dalton. Darnell is better than Brown was though, that is for sure. You can't say you like Downing and dislike the OC though - Downing hired him.

I would like to see them get back to a balanced traditional pro style attack. We don't have the skill players for a wide open west coast / spread type attack. The more we can control the ball but still have a down the field passing game the better. Winging it around the stadium just won't cut it. Besides having the ability to run the ball can be a lifesaver during Oct and Nov at some of the places we play (including Greeley).

Amen to that brother. I say deep six all of them and bring in Sonny Lubick and his old crew. Montana just picked up Mick Delany so we need to go find them before they are all gone.

I think what you saw last season was a young team struggling to execute the plays. The play calling was fine, it was just the execution that was missing.

The play calling was OK. Calling a 3yd pass on 3rd and 9 is not great play calling. Even if you execute that pass, it will probably not get you the first.

I do agree that execution was lacking in a big way though, and it could be a chicken and egg situation, the offense cant execute a 9yd play so why bother calling one, call a 3yd play and gain some field position...

Go Bears, you and I need to coach. I can't guarantee that our W/L would be any different, but we'd come cheaper and we'd be going for it on every play! :lol:

Hells yeah! We might not deliver wins but we would at least be exciting to watch :D

Plus I would demand as part of my contract that beer prices be capped at $4 or impliment the discount system we talked about before. We would draw much bigger crowds!!
