In the loss to BYU. Novak bounced back with 16 points, although he continues to get in foul trouble. ISU hit 7 treys in the second half. Geno also had a nice game, 15 points and 10 assists.
Big test tomorrow at CSUN. Has ISU improved enough to win on the road?
I am thinking that this team is better than last year. Whether that means 5 conference wins or 8, I am not sure. But there is talent and some depth on this year's team. Agree that CSUN is a big test. They are not a great team as we know from seeing them in Holt and ISU should be able to pull a road win if indeed the Bengals are getting better.
This is the last chance for Coach Evans to see his team play in a non-conference game. I’m sure he already has a good ideal what his rotation is going to be for conference, BUT I still expect to see a lot of subitution at CSUN. He has to give everyone a one last chance to prove themselves before the W’s and L’s really count. Our shooters have to have a lot confidences going into conference play. If we can make teams respect us outside the arc that would open the paint for Novak. There’s no way teams could double team him that’s what I think we need to see at CSUN.
I always think back to Herb Williams when he'd say, "there's a reason it's called a FREE throw."
After watching Novak the last couple of games, I am more than happy to pull my foot from my mouth. At least once tonight when he got doubled, the team didn't move to let him dish it off. He is improved.
Now we'll see what the future holds. They've picked up some wins against lower classification teams and some really, really bad Division-I clubs. Weber will be a good test and they'll be starting to play teams basically at their level.
